I'm afraid to leave Shane's side.Every time I do, one of his brothers or cousins tries to mess with me.
It's after dinner, and we're all outside around a fireplace near the pool.
They like getting a reaction out of me, so I'm learning not to react.
Shane has yelled at them multiple times.
I get along with the adults of the family.
But I want to kill his brothers and his cousins.
They'll purposely do little things that just piss me off, just pulling my phone charger out from the wall just enough to make it stop charging, or reaching over and locking my phone screen, or taking things from me.
But they're Shane's family, and I need to make an impression.
Shane can tell I'm uncomfortable. He holds me against him as we sit at the fire, and I've got a blanket.
I notice Blake and Devin are missing.
They're probably cutting holes in my underwear or something stupid.
"Where are Blake and Devin?" Shane asks, sitting up.
Everyone looks panicked.
Seth, Cole, and Chase are snickering.
They're definitely doing something.
Jake is here now too, and he looks worried for me.
"Lissy!" Devin calls.
We all turn in our seats.
He's holding my Macbook over the pool.
No.
I swear to God.
"Devin!" Uncle Nate yells. "If you fucking-"
He lets go.
Pictures. Irreplaceable pictures that I didn't have backed up to iCloud. Gone. Photos from me as a child. From my Great grandma. From my Aunt before she killed herself.
Gone.
They told me to snap back...
Surely he didn't actually throw my real Macbook in there, right?
He wouldn't do that, right?
No, of course not.
It was just the case.
He tosses the charger in after it, and rolls my entire fucking suitcase into the water.
I'm going to start crying.
There's photo of my Aunt on there. My parents wedding.
All the happy moments in my life are on that fucking computer.
I remember when I told Shane that when I'm really angry, I either scream or cry.
I'm going to cry.
Without a word, I get up and leave the scene.
I stumble upstairs to the room Shane and I are staying in, and I start sobbing.
Shane
"You fucking dick!" I shout at Blake.
They're laughing.
They're fucking laughing.
"You always fucking do this!" I say. "I don't-you do shit like this, not realizing what you're doing, and then you take it too fucking far! She has photos of her dead aunt on there that now she doesn't have because of you! She had photos of her great grandmother! All her memories were on that fucking computer, and because you're a fucking cunt, they're gone!"
