Adrian begun to cry, his back against the one of the roots of the oak tree. His breathing was abnormal as he pulled grass out of the ground. He tossed them into the air for the breeze to carry them away. He was rejected, by his first love. The sadness took over his heart, flooding it with all the regret he had for even liking Coral. Coral, her glossy black hair, flowing in the wind. Her gentle smile, beckoning him. Her emerald eyes, speaking to him in a language only both of them knew. He could only feel sadness at this point, his body refused to let him move from his current spot, he just wanted to stay near the oak tree, forever.

Then Coral came back, but this time she was dressed in completely white. Shockingly, she was wearing a dress, a sundress to be specific. Her black hair flowed in the gentle breeze, her gold eyes oddly empty. Adrian didn’t care about her apparel, she came back for him! The sadness faded and then came a new sense of relief. Maybe she was here to accept him, and finally he could treat her like his own. She would be his.

He ran to her, his body suddenly had more energy than it ever had. He halted in front of her, his eyes bright with excitement. Coral didn’t speak a word, she looked rather confused. But he didn’t care, she came back, that was all that mattered.

He spent the next hour talking to her, telling her about his emotions, how long had he loved her. Coral could only blush, she didn’t speak a word. Adrian didn’t mind, this was a new stage in their relationship. He felt their hearts grow closer as he held her hand. He ran his hand through his short brown hair, attempting to look cool. But Coral remained silent, her face slightly solemn. Adrian still hadn’t realized her mother had died, he didn’t know. But he was so overjoyed, he probably wouldn’t care.

The sky turned a lovely orange as the clouds disappeared, they had spent the entire day together. Coral, didn’t speak a word, with the exception of the occasional agreeing and giggling. Adrian never felt so happy, it was as if all the people who told him he couldn’t had died. As if their words turned into dust, as if he grew wings and could soar in the skies. Coral felt special, she felt wanted. It was a feeling she was very familiar with, something she got from her hometown. She blinked her gold eyes, and bid Adrian adieu as she went home.

Adrian didn’t even notice the fact that Coral stayed on his district, when she went the other way.

Back in a house foreign to Adrian, Coral seemed pleased with herself. She went over to the study to do some research, about her new boyfriend. “Adrian, Adrian. You’ll love me. Won’t you?” She smiled as she stared at the blank screen. The computer was ancient, it didn’t work. But Coral continued to type down random words, her gold eyes seemed so engrossed. Then she pressed the power button to shut it down, and proceeded to her room. She picked up the phone next to her bed and dialed imaginary numbers. She put the phone to her ear as she conversed with no one. She laughed, she gossiped, she told them about Adrian. How he was now the light in her life. She seemed so happy.

Then she picked up her sketchbook, and started to sketch Adrian. She made ten sketches and stuck them onto the walls of her room. The paint fell off as she did, it was clearly old and dried up. She tore off the old drawings, ripping them into pieces. Then proceeding on to burn them in a little campfire she made. The smoke clouded up in her room, but it didn’t seem to affect this girl. Her black hair was scorched at its ends, but no one would notice.

She went to her mirror to do her makeup, giving herself a loud red lipstick. The cracks in the mirror allowed her to see herself multiple times, she broke it a total of ten times. She laughed at how many years of bad luck she would have. The laugher was high and maniacal. She changed into a thin white evening gown and proceeded out of her house. The house looked abandoned, with its paint fading and cracks in the wood. It begun to rain, rather heavily. The intense shower drenched her completely, but her gold eyes were opened fully. They sparkled in the night, and her tan skin made her look like some animal. Vicious, and unforgiving.

She walked, bare-footed, on the roads. Her feet felt no pain on the tar, her body felt no cold from the rain. She reached a house with bright red walls and a lovely porch. She stood under the shelter and knocked gently on the door. She was completely drenched, and soon the welcome mat was wet as well. The door opened to find a man, around his twenties. He had ruffled brown hair and a shaved beard, he was dressed in a grey singlet and blue boxers. He looked drowsy, very drowsy. He reeked of alcohol and looked grimy. Coral let out a giggle as she ushered herself in, her body completely drenched. The man smirked as he shut the door, rather loudly. Coral waltzed to the kitchen straight away, picking what she felt was the most appropriate utensil. She smiled at it, then she took out her nightgown off, revealing her black lingerie. She went back out to the living room to see the man shirtless, on the sofa. He was lighting a cigarette when he saw Coral, he looked rather pleased. Coral danced to him, her body movements graceful. The man threw the cigarette on the floor and flung himself at Coral.

That was when it happened. The man hugged himself around Coral, trying to undo her underwear. Coral drove the knife through his heart, and the man collapsed to the ground. The bloodied kitchen knife was drenched in scarlet, and Coral smiled at the man. The man groaned the words, “Carol. You bitch.” Coral could only giggle as she plunged the knife down the man’s throat, her eyes widening in pleasure as she did. When she ripped it he coughed out more blood, and his black eyes were ablaze with horror.

“Liar, you never loved me. You slept with other women, didn’t you?” Coral looked rather displeased now, as she said the words in a teasing fashion. She traced the man’s body down to his boxers and slowly the man’s eyes began to widen in horror.

There was a loud scream from the house, but no one heard it because the clap of thunder overpowered it. Coral- no this was not Coral. It was not Coral at all. She tip-toed out of the house, making sure there was no trace of her whatsoever. She wrapped the bloodied knife in her evening gown, holding it rather loosely in her hands. The gown turned red, very slowly, and the girl seemed satisfied with her actions.

Back at her own house she laid down on her bed. She stared at the pictures of Adrian on the wall, and decided that things would change. That Adrian would love her, not like Carlos did. Carlos was a liar. He betrayed her. He deserved to die, and his sinful limbs deserved to be severed. She giggled as she closed her eyes, allowing herself to drift off into sleep.
