Rubbing the bridge of his nose, Rumblepurr was not aware of Altaica coming into the den with Benoni. When someone feminine and warm pressed against his back, he started until the familiar scent came to him. Once he knew who was with him, he relaxed back against her body, sighing.
“What’s wrong, Rumble? Who was in here last?”
“Silvana and the Twins.”
Altaica chuckled. “Say no more. No wonder you have the oncoming of a migraine. Her kitts would cause me a rip-roaring one, too.”
“Nuada and Maahes came in claiming that you had been hit by a car, and then proceeded to tell me 'April Fools' when I raced outside. Everything went downhill from there…”
“Sorry, Beloved.”
“When I came back in, they had put a rope across the threshold…”
“Another prank?”
He nodded. “Fortunately, Silvana came in shortly afterwards and rescued me.”
“My handsome Tom in distress…” One light blue eye opened and looked up over his shoulder at her. “Well, Rumble, you are.”
“Handsome or in distress?”
“Right now, both,” Altaica chuckled louder, and then lowered her lips down to kiss him. “What did Silvie bring with her, other than the headaches, uh, Twins?”
“A dream. Since I have come here and started writing the Chronicles, there have been more dreams, and more experiences of the past. If it were not for Sundancer and her Mate having the first one before I arrived, I would think my entry into the Tribe was the catalyst.”
“Oh? What did Tugger’s other Mate find out?”
“Please sit and get comfortable…”
“Uh-uh, Rumble. You sit and get comfortable, and then I will.”
Shaking his head gently, which hurt anyway, he collected the notepad and went over to the sleeping area. He placed the pillows and blankets in such a way so that he could half-sit and then Benoni and Altaica could chose their own positions. When he sat down, he was slightly surprised when she chose to sit against him between his knees.
“This is not your usual position,” he said softly.
Taking one of his paws and placing it under her breasts, she chuckled. “Maybe not, but I’ll bet you won’t mind too much.” She gasped as he took brief advantage of that placement. “Nope. Obviously, you don’t mind at all…”
“Mom? Dad? Quit fooling around and read…”
Altaica had to chuckle as Rumblepurr harrumphed. “Benoni? I will fool around with your Mother if I wish. I believe I have that right.”
“I know, Dad. I just want to hear the story. You can do that after I go to sleep.”
Rumblepurr started to retort when Altaica’s paw came up and covered his mouth. “Go ahead, Rumble. And when he does, we can 'fool around'.”
“Altaica…”
“Rumble? Shut up and read.”
“That’s an oxymoron, dear.”
“Rumble…”
The April sun and its growing warmth brought the yard some warmth and much welcomed light. Not that the winter had been a dark one, but the springtime was always a welcome one as life returned to the Tribe's domains and the summer lay just around the corner, knocking politely to be let in. Springtime is also the time things grow anew, when events takes place that changes ones life.
