After our embrace, Elizabeth and I decided to get dressed and go out for lunch to catch up with each other. I couldn't stop smiling as I went back to my dressing room and put on my clothes. I smiled even wider as I opened the door and saw Elizabeth already waiting for me with her clothes in her hand.
We ended up not buying anything, dropping our individual findings around random racks in the store. As we exited the store, I felt Elizabeth slip her hand into mine, intertwining our fingers and rubbing her thumb across mine, almost like I had done the very first day we met. We walked together in peaceful silence as she led me toward her car. We had parked in the same lot, only a few spots away from each other. After standing before the small beat-up vehicle for a few seconds, she turned to me, letting go of my hand and pulling me toward her. I wrapped my arms around her waist, our bodies fitting together naturally as she rested against the car with me leaning into her.
"Do you know anywhere you want to go?" I asked as she wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me even closer.
"We can go back to my place if you want, it's only about ten minutes from here," she replied, drawing her lips closer to mine. "I make pretty good spaghetti," she said in a hoarse whisper.
I closed my eyes as our lips touched again, feeling tingles run up and down my body and a low heat start in my tummy, quickly spreading down between my legs. I somehow managed to press myself closer to her and let my tongue touch hers slowly, our kiss getting longer and our breaths getting shorter. I pulled away, seeing a dazed look on her face and smirked at her.
"Are we going to go or are we just going to make out in the open all day long?" I said, stepping back. She rolled her eyes at me and gave me a slight push, her fingers against my chest. Before she could pull away, I grabbed her hand and turned it over, kissing the small veins I had touched once before. She seemed a little surprise and I saw a small blush appear on her cheeks as I looked up and let her hand drop.
"Uh, we can go in my car if you want," she said in a fast tone, turning to face her car and unlocking it before slipping in. I walked around to the other side and opened the door, getting into the passenger seat. I noticed the car smelled like a combination of roses and sweet vanilla, something I had never smelled before. I realized Elizabeth had always carried that same sort of scent on her clothing and wondered if it was a perfume she wore. Elizabeth turned on the car and Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl" blasted from the speakers. I watched as Elizabeth quickly turned down the volume and I started laughing, holding my sides as I doubled over.
"Yes I love Katy Perry, she's my everything so what," said Elizabeth in a clearly annoyed voice. I heard her sigh in a disappointed manner as I kept laughing.
"I wasn't laughing at that," I said, little tears streaming down my face. "I was laughing at the irony of the song especially considering we were just making out and I have a-" I stopped, suddenly aware of what was about to pop from my mouth. In all the time I had been with Elizabeth, I had completely forgotten about Jason. A feeling of panic pressed against my chest and I suddenly couldn't breathe as well. How had I forgotten about my boyfriend? I had kissed another person, someone who was most definitely not Jason, and had not even thought of him at all. I had no idea what I was doing and I felt a small pang in my head as a million thoughts came crashing down within me.
"A what?" Elizabeth asked, backing out of the lot and turning to drive away from the mall. I saw her glance at me from the corner of my eye, raising her eyebrows in expectancy.
"Uh I was gonna say a cherry chapstick layer on my mouth but I remembered it was actually strawberry," I said stumbling over my flimsy excuse. I turned my head and watched as Elizabeth smirked, obviously catching me in my lie but not pushing it any forward. I decided that thinking about Jason would have to wait until later and I faced the window, putting him out of my head. We drove with the Katy playlist going and I stared out, my eyes taking in the trees and people walking by while also trying to memorize the route to Elizabeth's home.
