Ah, Sunday afternoons. Perfect time for patrol! Or, should it be purr-fect time for paw-trol?
"Stop it." Marinette giggled, shoving Adrien's face away from hers. "Your puns are awful." They went from building top to building top watching Paris carefully. Of course, that's when the sky decided to let it rain. "Aw, man..." Marinette whined, wiping raindrops off her mask.
Right beside her, Adrien was trying to bite the rain.
"Uh...are you OK?" she asked.
His kitty ears twitched and tail flicked agitatedly as he swatted at the rain. A big drop landed right in the center of his hair, which had him hissing at the sky. "Stop doing that, you stupid sky!" he shouted to the clouds, jumping in the air.
Marinette grabbed his tail and yanked him down, pulling the dummy down to the street where they took refuge under an awning. Adrien kept trying to shake out his hair and suit, but the more he shook, the farther he stretched out to the street where it was still raining.
"This isn't fair!" he pouted, plopping down and giving up on drying off. Marinette giggled, sitting down beside her feline friend, who leaned against her shoulder. "Stupid rain."
"You sound just like a cat," she snickered. "Afraid of a little water, are we kitty?"
"I'm not afraid of the water!" Adrien defended. "I just don't like it." Just to prove a point, Marinette stuck her hand out into the rain, to which Adrien responded with desperate pleas for her to return the hand. She flicked the water droplets onto his face, laughing as she watched him furiously swipe at his face. "It's not funny!"
"Oh, but it is very funny," she said through her laughter. She reached back out and covered her hands in more water only to flick it at her partner mercilessly.
"Ladybug!" he shouted, trying to dodge the water. "Stooooop!"
"What's the word?" Marinette sat playfully pondering the choice, "Hmm, no."
"Pleeeeease!" Adrien insisted. He crawled closer and curled up against her leg, hoping maybe the action would make her take pity.
"OK, OK," Marinette sighed. "You're such a kitten." She petted his hair, nearly bursting when he started to purr.
"Marinette!" Alya shouted that next morning. She tossed her bag down and shuffled as close as she could to the other girl. "Look at what I caught on film!" she squealed. Marinette giggled softly and looked closer at her best friend's phone.
On screen was Ladybug and Chat Noir from the day before. Playing. Cuddling. In the rain.
"Wh-what's this?" Marinette asked nervously.
"Only the biggest hit on the Ladyblog I've ever had!" Alya squealed. "We're calling it LadyNoir! Everyone thinks they're a couple, and this proof!"
"M-maybe it's just because they're friends?" Marinette tried. She couldn't hide the nervousness she felt at being caught messing with Adrien like that.
"Friends? Puh-lease!" Alya waved her off.
"Hey, ladies," Adrien and Nino greeted as they came into the classroom.
"Oh, what's that?" Nino asked, glancing at the phone in his girlfriend's hands. "Ladybug and Chat Noir?"
"It's called LadyNoir, thank you," Alya corrected.
"LadyNoir?" Adrien questioned. He stepped closer to look at the phone over Marinette's shoulder, his eyes going wide when he noticed what the video was. There the two of them sat. Marinette splashing him and him freaking out. Oh, and the cuddling! Adrien could feel his face heat up, so he ducked under Marinette's hair. "Why do you think that makes them a couple?" he asked.
Alya rolled her eyes. "It's not just this. This is the icing on the cake!" she started. "Just look at these pictures people have been submitting. If they aren't together, at least Chat Noir thinks they are!"
She scrolled and scrolled to show the many, many, many pictures of what was dubbed "Crush-eyes Chat". Some of the photos were too embarrassing, even if Marinette knew already he liked her. He'd never noticed just how much he stared at her.
"And the absolute best photo of them all, the undeniable proof," Alya shoved her phone at both Marinette and Adrien to show the picture of Ladybug kissing Chat Noir on Valentine's Day.
"Wait, what?!" Adrien yelled. He looked down at Marinette, who was shying away slightly. "When did this happen?!" he asked.
"Sources say that Chat Noir was hit with an anti-love arrow and the only way to fix him was for Ladybug to kiss him." Alya explained. "But some people think that was a cover-up."
"Were you ever going to tell me that we've kissed?" Adrien asked once he and Marinette were walking to the bakery.
"Maybe. Eventually..." Marinette said quietly. "I didn't think it was that important, I only did it because you were trying to kill me!"
"This isn't fair!" Adrien whined, kicking the weeds in the sidewalk cracks. "The one time you kiss me, and I can't even remember it!"
Marinette rolled her eyes, listening to the blond beside her ramble on about the injustices of the situation. "Adrien..." she tried to call his attention, but he just kept complaining. "Adrieeeeen," she tried a bit louder. "Adrien!"
Finally, attention.
"If it's that big of a deal..." she looked away, a blush covering her face. "We can, y'know..."
Adrien was sure his heart was going to explode right out of his chest. Before she could change her mind, Adrien scooped her up and pressed their lips together. It was short and sweet, maybe a little less desperate than the first one.
"There, better?" Marinette asked. She couldn't meet the boy's eyes, but she could just tell he was nodding way too enthusiastically. She giggled and took her spot back beside him to continue walking. "Don't tell anybody about that..."
"No promises, Nino is a very nosey person..." Adrien teased, nudging the girl with his elbow.
