Adrien started planning for his and Marinette's date the second he got his quiz back. He'd gotten an 86% on it, but that wasn't what he cared about. His phone was out as he searched basically every website known to teenagers for ideas of what they could do. The bell rang and he was up on his feet in front of Marinette, grinning ear-to-ear.
"How'd you do?" Marinette asked. He held out the paper for her to see, nearly bouncing out of his shoes with happiness. "Oh, Adrien! That's great!" Marinette praised, letting the blond pull her into a hug.
"And I'll pick you up at 6, OK?" he said with a smirk, winking as he walked out of the classroom.
Marinette facepalmed. She'd forgotten about agreeing to go on a date with him if he got a good grade. Alya came up from behind, asking what he was talking about.
"I maaaay have a date with him..." Marinette explained, pulling a grin so Alya wouldn't see how much Marinette was not looking forward to going on a date Chat Noir.
"OK, Plagg, be honest..." Adrien said as he spun around to face the kwami, "does this look stupid?" he asked. Adrien had changed out of his usual school clothes, instead opting for a black polo shirt and khaki shorts.
Plagg snorted, nearly choking on his cheese.
"I'll take that as a yes..." Adrien mumbled.
"No, no, it's fine!" Plagg said dramatically. "You're just so nervous it's funny!"
"I can't help it! I've never been on a date, what d'you expect?!" Adrien started to pace his room, going over his checklist in his head. There was still two hours before he had to pick up Marinette, so that meant he still had two hours to get flowers, a gift, and maybe rethink his whole entire date and just maybe tweak the idea and –
"Look, just calm down," Plagg said as he zipped up to Adrien's face, making the boy stumble. "You're just going to miniature golf; it's not like you're planning a wedding!"
"I know, I know," Adrien waved him off. "But, Marinette thinks I'm just some goofball now that she knows about Chat Noir, so I've gotta make this date perfect so she'll like me back! I have the perfect plan, don't worry!"
But Plagg was worried. He knew if the slightest little thing went wrong (or what Adrien would consider wrong), the entire evening would be ruined. Never say that little cat didn't care about his human!
"OK, Tikki, can you get me the strawberries?" Marinette asked of her kwami. The little ladybug kwami fluttered over to the bin of berries, bringing them over for Marinette. The girl finished her piping and smiled, thanking Tikki.
"The cake looks really yummy, Marinette," Tikki complimented.
"Thanks, Tikki," Marinette said with a giggle. The cake itself was chocolate, sweet and simple, then covered in a white fondant and Marinette piped vibrant yellow roses with ladybugs dotted over them. She was also sure to add a couple of cookie crump paw-prints and frame them with the strawberries. "I hope Adrien likes it..."
Marinette also hoped he understood what the different colored roses meant. She didn't pick yellow just because they were pretty. Yellow ones meant friendship and happiness, which is what she wanted to convey.
Adrien knocked on the door to the bakery about an hour later. Marinette looked up from the kitchen, internally freaking out. She'd been so busy making sure the little cake was perfect she forgot to watch the time! She ran over, still wearing her apron and covered in flour, and threw open the door.
"Hey, come on in!" she said, letting the boy in.
"Been a little busy, huh?" Adrien said with a snicker. Marinette sighed and nodded.
