IV

It was a beautiful winter evening at the Santa Monica beach.

She always thought of how amazing it was that her house in Cali was right next to the seashore. The gentle waves would flow in a rhythmic pattern that did a great job at putting her to sleep every night (and also keeping her awake while doing her History homework). First, the waves would come close, kissing the beach sand. Then, they would go back, leaving the shore bare; only for a new set of ones to take their place.

After just staring at the sea for a while, she sat down near the shore and let out a sad sigh.

It was winter break, nearing Christmas - the best time of the entire year. But this time, all she could think of was how, it would soon be her senior year.

Senior, she wasn't even used to calling herself a junior yet and it was her junior year.

Of course, it wasn't that fact that she was concerned about, she was always bad at remembering things like this, proven on numerous occasions.
Like when she decided that she would finally go up on stage and deliver a moving speech about saving the planet, only to start by saying that she was from Crossroads Elementary School.

She was a freshman.

At Santa Monica High School.

Needless to say, that didn't go well.

But now, instead of saving the planet, she was thinking of ways she could save herself from all the things that were going to come her way.

College, goodbyes, life.

She wished that she had more time to spend with her friends, her family and also, with him.

Of course, she wasn't too concerned about the last part. Both of them had talked about going to local, community colleges.
She was even considering going to the same college as him, even though it wasn't as good as her choices were (unless she got into Caltech or any Ivy legue Institution, then she would be off in a jiffy).

Still, there was a nugging feeling at the back of her head - telling her that something would go wrong.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see, she thought.

When she did see, of course, she wished that she hadn't waited, that she hadn't seen.

She wished that she could go back to the beach and stay there, play there for as long as she could, because who knew what else would remain.

Except her, the ocean and the waves.

Then, she writes.

If we last, my ray of sun,

We'd live and laugh, we'd fight and run,

We'd play with the fire that lies within,

Once done we'd laugh at all our sin.

And until I fear all things unseen,

Until the darkness comes between,

We'll love like spirits set heavens by free,

We'd love like the sunset loves the sea.

☆Through words unheard our affection, it rings,

Through memories of you my heart, it sings.☆
