I jolted up. I felt cold and I wasn't holding Maya anymore.
"Maya!?"
"Yeah?"
She stood behind me with a glass of water in her hands.
"You scared me you idiot!" She sighed.
"Well, what did you think? That I was gone?" She laughed sadly to herself.
"Sorry baby" I held her as if I wouldn't ever again.
When she looked at me, mischief glinted in her eyes and she had a smile plastered across her face.
"What?" I said nervously.
She just giggled and walked off to the bathroom. I felt a knot tie in my stomach.
The day dragged on. We played games and talked about everything. But we still feared Richard calling our names for a job.
Maya came to me later on and dragged me by my wrist into the bathroom, locking the door behind her.
"What's up Maya?"
"Well...." The way she dragged it out made me feel sick. I clutched my stomach tightly.
"I'm leaving" I burst out laughing before realising she was serious.
"Your crazy" and I turned to leave but she barred my way.
"listen! Tomorrow I have a job, I'll jump out the window and I'll be free,
I'll go alone and get police and then you'll be free an-""Stop Maya"
"And then we can live together and you can see your mum and dad an-"
"MAYA!" I shouted but then I softened "Maya baby, don't get my hopes up, it won't happen. Open your eyes for gods sake it won't work" I shoved her out the way and as I opened the door she said "fine, don't help me but it'll work, I promise" she whispered the last part and I stormed out.
