School starts on January 4th and I am not prepared at all.

"Kit!" Dylan shouts after me, running down the hallway to the top of the stairs where I was standing. I turned and looked at him.

"Harh?"

"Do you know who Ludwig Von Beethoven was? He was the greatest composer of all time, he was loved by millions-"

"What?!" Sometimes I can't believe how random my brother is.

"Nothing." He says, I grunt.

"Then why did you call me just to say all that?"

"I meant, are you ready for school? It starts on the 4th." He handed me a thin stack of papers. "Nah, this is your schedule and all that." I took it from him and immediately started going through it.

"Is Jillian going to the same school?"

"No, she's going to Lennon. She's a rich kid remember?" Lennon was an expensive private school other than the one we go to.

"Oh."

"I'll just take this last packet in case, because I think I'll lose it all by the second week of school." I say as I toss the sixth packet of three pens into the shopping basket. Dylan rolls his eyes.

"Should I take this or this?" He asks me, holding up two different brands of correction tape.

"Why do you even need correction tape? First of all, you're already so smart and second of all, you're not even allowed to use it." He just rolls his eyes. Me and all my brothers are out shopping for school supplies.

"DEXTER! Give me my shoe!" Jaden screamed as he and Dexter ran across the isle we were in. Dexter stopped and turned to face Jaden and did the 'ne ne ne poo poo' thing with both his thumbs on the top of his head. Kind of like a moose. Jarron's music played very loudly in the background.

"Fool scap or lined? Why are there two different names for the same thing? Fool scrap is what you call paper that has been used!" Kieran rants.

"Ugh shut up lah!" Zach exclaimed, however, Kieran kept going on about his rant.

"Yes, I love you too, baby girl. I'll pick you up at seven tomorrow. Okay, love you," he made kissing noises, "bye my sweet." Adrian talked to his girlfriend like nobody's business. GROSS.

"KIDS!" Mama shouted, but not loud enough. She looked at Adrian then Dylan then me pleadingly. All of us shrugged at the same time. "Do something." I had just about enough, so I stepped in front of Dexter who was running across across the isle for the fifth time with Jaden's shoe.

"Give Jaden back his shoe." I said sternly. He nodded and handed it back to Jaden. "Go stand there, you too Jaden." I pointed to a pillar in the middle of the isle. "Kieran!" He stopped his rant and looked at me. "Shut up and come here." I pointed to the pillar again. He sighed and rolled his eyes but nevertheless, trudged over to the pillar and stood there. "Jarron, enough with the music! Use your earphones or something." I pointed to the pillar and indicated for him to stand there. He scowled at me while plugging in his earphones. A triumphant smile plastered on my face,

I had four of eight brothers at the pillar. But they weren't standing still as you might've expected, they were squirming and Kieran proceeded to rant to Jaden about lined paper again. Adrian had not put down his phone, so I narrowed my eyes at him and pointed to the pillar. He knew I was telling to stop talking on the phone and help me, but he continued on the phone while walking over to the pillar. He stood there like a little child. Five over eight.

Nickson was texting while headphone over his ears. He was quiet so I didn't tell him to stand by the pillar. Truthfully, i was a bit scared to tell him what to do. He was like some emo kid that never talks, so I just left him to be. Going out with my family is hard.
