What are your thoughts so far? These first few chapters are going to be short due to the fact the book was only able to be about 2500 words. When we get to present day the chapters will lengthen.

Any way, continue on my fellow fae❤❤

After they had gathered all the wood they would need, Avarly led the horse and wagon to the sacred ritual spot. Elise sat transfixed next to her,  the farther they left the forest the more homes they passed.

Each house was an adorable little hut built into the trees,  some stood alone while others seemed to be built right into the hillside. Everything was burrowed under two to three feet of snow,  but it still looked so enchanted.

Other Fae were out and about as well,  Avarley said it was everyones duty to prepare for tonight regardless of where you stood in power. Elise thought that seemed nice,  for one day everyone was the same.

Some of the Fae bowed to Avarly,  and some cast Elise wary glances.  Avarly told me that it was normal,  she was their patron,  and Elise was just a new face.

They kept on going past the small town into another line of pine trees,  the air felt weird here,  like it was positively charged, "Is this where the ritual will happen? "

Avarly nodded, "I assume that you can feel the magic in the air?  Your heightened senses is the reason why you notice. "

Finally they came to a stop in the middle of the clearing. Other Fae were already there setting up flags and poles with banners.  It looked like the makings of a carnival. Avarly began using her magic to stack the logs into a teepee shape and instructed Elise to do the same.

Elise flicked her wrists commanding the logs to move in the same manner as Avarly.  Soon they had the makings of probably the largest bonfire known to man.

"What do we do now? " Elise asked.

Avarly smiled brightly, "Now we wait."

Night fell quickly and Elise was sitting in Avarly's room.  The Pure Fae's room looked like an Alchemists paradise.  She had bottles and vials filled with different colored liquids lined on a shelf,  another shelf housed glass jars filled with herbs.  Along the east end of the wall was a floor to ceiling book shelf that was crammed with ancient looking leather bound books.

"Well what do you think? " Avarly asked stepping out from behind the changing wall.

She looked etheral in her snow white gown,  and ice blue ribbon tied delicatly around her slender waist.  Her snow white hair cascaded down on soft waves.

"You look amazing! "Elise said,  her eyes wide.

Avarly chuckled, "Thank you.  This is my Winter Solstice gown,  I have three others for the other rituals I perform throughout the year. "

Avarly led them through the night,  the town was empty,  the only direction to the festivities was lanterns floating on either side of the paths guiding one towards the lining of the trees.  Just through the peaks of the trees, Elise could see a bright orange glow taking over the inky black sky.

Avarly chuckled at Elise's gaping mouth, "Are you ready for most magical experience of your life,  child? "
