"Torah!" Kirk' s voice snaps me back to reality. "I asked if you were hungry."
I look back at his eyes, they were a green blue that reminded me of fish scales by the way they glint. "I must've dazed off, my apologies Captain."
"It's fine Torah. Come have some of the finest food this side of the Dart Galaxy. And of course I am using a large amount of sarcasm."
I smile, "You do not like your own ship's food?"
"It's airline food to say the least."
"I don't understand that reference." I admit.
Jim laughs at me and begins to escort me to the canteen.
"A few days on Earth and you'd get it."
I smile brightly. "You and your ship are from Earth then?"
"The Federation. But most of us are Earthly."
I nod at the blond man's response. He was well built and fit. I enjoyed watching him. What was this strange feeling? I have never felt such a thing before.
"The great Enterprise canteen!" Jim announces as we enter a set of sleek chrome double doors.
I am directed to sit at a table. Kirk walks up to some of the chefs and gives them quiet orders.
Jim sits to my right and three members of the kitchen staff bring us food and drink.
"I didn't know what you'd want so I thought you could start with water and macaroni & cheese." He explains the dishes.
I did not know what macaroni & cheese was but I relished every taste. There were soft pasta tubes filled and coated with white cheese.
"It magnificent!" I exclaim.
"Good with Mac & Cheese. Bring out the chicken!"
"I like chicken." I tell Jim, "Why are you testing my tastes?"
"I don't want you to be hungry. I also want to know what you like to eat."
"Shouldn't we be discussing the Silence?" I ask.
"We can, tomorrow. You should eat now." Kirk firmly states. I obey, and after several courses, I am sluggish.
"Next stop, bed time. Sound good Torah?" Kirk asks.
I yawn as a response.
