"Would You Like to come in? I mean up" I gestured to my building. We were still standing on the pavement with Gabriel. He smiled warmly, showing his pearly white teeth and nodded his head. I just laughed at how childish a man could behave. So we took a lift and entered my house. "So this is where I live".
"Nice house for someone so young" Gabriel commented. "Mind if I ask what you do for a living?"
"Nothing" I smiled at him. Gabriel wore a puzzled expression so I quickly explained. "I inherited the money after my father. He was a famous football player. VanFlees is not my surname actually. It's my mother's. My real one is Tomlinson. I'm Ella Tomlinson, but after my...dad died I changed it because it was too much of an reminder. I hate it when someone calls me Tomlinson"
"I'm sorry for your loss" Gabriel patted my back, looking at me sadly.
"It's ok. I've gotten over the sadness, guilt and everything else. It's just a bad memory now".
"So you want anything to drink?" I asked to break the awkward silence.
"Has Harry ever told you anything about himself?" He asked out of the blue. I furrowed my eyebrows. Umm...ok.
"Where is that question coming from?" I masked my confusion with a nervous giggle. Gabriel just shrugged.
"I just wanted to know. Maybe I could help more. With figuring him out I mean"
"No he hasn't actually. He keeps his life to himself" I lied. For some reason I grew unsure. Why would Gabriel ask about that?
"Gabi is there any particular reason you want to know that?" I just had to ask.
"I was just curious Ella." He raised his arms up in surrender.
"I'm sorry. I should have known. Curiosity is...it bugs you I know" I said, while rubbing my temples.
"It's ok." He laughed lightly. "You asked if I wanted something to drink. A water would do just fine" I nodded my head and poured fresh water into a tall glass.
"Here you go" I handed it to him and he took a large gulp from it.
"So apart from the 'Harry subject' how have you been?"
"Very well. My best friend Layla left with her current boyfriend on a journey. They are visiting Europe. They want to visit every country, I don't think they will be back before the end of this year"
"Most probably not"
"And my life has been borring as always. Same routine everyday".
"Very monotone indeed" There was a strange fire hidden behind the dark orbs of Gabriel's, but it was barely showing, because of the sincere smile he wore. However the fire seemed almost sinister. Something has changed. something has changed since we entered my house. Something about Gabriel wasn't the same. "Ella? Were you even listening?" He pulled me out of my thoughts. Maybe I'm just getting paranoid.
"Sorry, I got.....distracted" 'with this vicious glint in your eyes'. My brain told me.
"I asked how do you have a picture of Harry's sister?" He held an object in front of my eyes. It was a small picture. Easily could be kept inside a wallet. And probably was. Or in a pocket. However it wasn't mine. The picture showed a girl. Very beautiful in her early 20. She had long, brown hair, stunning smile, a pair of deep green eyes as well as a pair of dimples. She looked like a female version of Harry. Just without the stern expression he almost always wore.
"It must have fallen out of his pocket when he....." I started explaining. Damn you Harry. You need to stop with dropping your thing on my floor. But just as I was about to carry on talking, something clicked in my head. Like a lightbulb or a switch. I dropped my glass which I was holding in my hand.
I never mentioned to Gabriel that Harry had a sister. Never. Ever. And what's worse I remembered something else.
"One night I got a call. It was from a guy named Gabriel. My biggest enemy. He called to say that if I want to see my sister alive he wants me to kill someone."
Gabriel.
Gabriel.
I knew I've heard this name before.
"I don't think I've ever mentioned that Harry had a sister" I said silently. I looked at him. First there was shock and he was clearly caught off guard, but It was soon replaced by a sinister look on his face. It was the same vicious look that migrated from the back of his eyes to the entirety of his face. I took a cautious step back and hit the kitchen island. Gabriel followed my movements and got closer.
"I must say that you are a clever girl Ella. But stupid enough to believe that I really was your friend?" He laughed darkly, making me shiver. "but you must admit I was convincing with my acting. I mean you really liked the sweet, innocent Gabi right?" I didn't say anything. Suddenly the silence was interrupted with a phone ringing. This time it was my phone. I looked at the screen along with Gabriel. "Oh!look who's calling! It's Harry. I don't think he will be speaking with you anytime soon sweetheart" with that he pulled the needle out of his jacket and aimed it at my throat.
"Please. I don't know anything! Just l-leave me alone" I begged. I really didn't ask for this.
"Sweet dreams Ella. You'll need a lot" he pressed the needle to my skin and darkness overtook me, accompanied by the sound of My phone. My only hope of ever seeing the light of the day.
