Kyle’s POV
“Could I possibly use your laptop to Skype Kenzi?” I asked Danny when we got home. We had a few hours before we had to be at Tom’s so I figured I’d try and catch Kenzi at home.
“Sure, just gotta remember where I put it…” he said and started turning around looking for it.
“Kitchen table.” Danny leaned over to look in the kitchen, then turned back to smile at me.
“Thanks.” He led me up to his bedroom and logged in. “I’ll let you be.”
I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. “Thanks, Danny. I’ll be down in a bit.” He kissed my forehead and left the room, closing the door behind him. I signed onto Skype and Facebook. I sent Kenzi a message on Facebook saying: I finally have decent internet access! Get on skype ASAP, I need to talk to you.
A few minutes later I saw Kenzi on the screen. “Oh Kyle, I’ve missed you so much!” she said. A huge smile spread on my face. I hadn’t seen her in about two months, and it would be another month and a half until I could actually see her in person.
“I’ve missed you too, Kenz! How are you doing?”
“Oh, you know.” She shrugged and smiled. “Same old, same old. Where are you? Looks awfully nice for your budget.”
“This is Danny’s bedroom.” I picked the laptop up and turned it around to show her the room.
“Wait, what? You’re with him, at his house?”
“Yeah, he asked me to come to England for spring break, remember?”
“Oh, that’s right! So how’s it going?” She waggled her eyebrows up and down, and we both laughed.
“Well it’s gotten more complicated, and I actually need some help with this.”
“What happened?!”
“He wants me to be his girlfriend.”
“Dude, Kyle, why are you so serious? It’s not like you’ve never had a boyfriend before!” She laughed.
“No, I know, but he lives here. In England. We talked this morning and we agreed long-distance isn’t gonna cut it, so either I move here or we forget it.”
“Oh. Wow.”
“Yeah.”
“If you move, I’ll move too. I don’t like not being together. It’s weird.” We both laughed.
“I didn’t want to move away from you, either, which is the second reason I wanted to talk to you; that and you give better advice than anyone I know.”
“Okay, so what would you do for a job?”
“The artist doing my tattoo said he might have apprenticed me if I lived here, so I’m thinking I’d talk to him and see if he still wants me.”
“But apprentices don’t usually make much, if anything.”
“Right. I’d look for either a morning job, like a barista, or a night job as a bartender or something. Or I’d learn some moves from you and dance. But with that I’d have to check with Jesse and the guys at the tattoo shop cause I wouldn’t want to do anything that might affect their reputation. And I guess I’d also need to talk to Danny. I dunno how it would affect the band, or if Danny himself would have a problem. Up to this point he hasn’t had a problem with my overt sexuality, but maybe he’d have a problem with me dancing for other guys, I dunno.”
