charlies brain felt tossed around and stomped on by the stranger-but not so stranger. everything she knew, she didn't know what was right and what was wrong. her facts were scattered, everything she knew was gone.

she ran a hand through her unruly, dirty blonde hair. it was short, only reaching above her shoulders. but it was wild, and her best friend, julio, once said that when she ran and her hair flew in the wind, it looked like a horses mane. a horse that was wild, and ran through the fields freely.

when charlie remembered this, something that jolted in her mind and shocked her from the inside out. the stranger, who was a god (apparently), his animal was a horse.

charlie sat on the edge of the large rock, her legs drifting in the cold water, her overall pant legs rolled up. she hadn't talked to the god in about two hours or so. she was ignoring him, afraid he might punish her for no exact reason. she feared gods- or any higher being- didn't care for the humans. they, after all, should belittle the humans.

but she finally decided to stop calling him what he wasn't, a stranger. truth was, everyone on her trainee team knew of the god of the sea. the man who helped them with safe passage. although, this time, not so safe.

poseidon, the god of the sea, coughed. he coughed not because he was sick, but because he wanted that humans attention. it was quite odd, but normal, for the gods to be attracted towards the humans. charlie knew of all the stories of heroic demigods, half god and half human.

"you know, the tide is rising. i do think that the water will cover this rock-"

"of course," she scoffed. poseidon furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "i mean, you are the god of the ocean. you should know when the tide rises."

poseidon chuckled, pacing around the small space of the rock. charlie feared that the god would take advantage of her, like many other gods have done with humans before. they make the human fall in love, and simply have that perfect "one night stand".

but charlie wont let that happen. she, instead, ignored the hand that was placed on her shoulder.

"i wont hurt you, charlotte." he mumbled. charlie turned her head the other way, not bothering to correct him.

eventually the god left, leaving the girl in the perfect silence. her throat felt dry, and her stomach was empty. her skin cracked with the air full of salt. being there with no supplies was dangerous and unhealthy, and she finally decided to stand and looked for anything to help her.

charlie walked the rock, finally spotting a few ocean items she could use. she grabbed a cracked sea shell, running her finger over the sharp ridges. it reminded her of when she and her family went to beach when she was younger, and she collected the rocks and the shells on the shore. the memories were useless, now.
