Loneliness was one of the biggest forms of disease.

Or so, Charlie thought.

Spending her time roaming the halls of Olympus, cladded in white dresses and dining on the grandest of foods, she never actually saw the god of seas around anymore. It sort of ended up like a Annie experience. A newly orphan, rescued and taken in by a god. It still took a little convincing in the morning that she was sleeping in a room twice the size of her own tiny house, and that the gods had favored her.

a puny mortal obsessed with dogs.

speaking of which, the present that Poseidon so kindly gifted her a week ago was still small and skittish. of course, the puppy came with her loyal puppy pleasures. such as, curing Charlies cabin fever.

even while being in the gods favor, and dining at a grand table with her two friends, Hermes and Bonnie, there was limitations and expectations. she was not allowed in hera's garden, or in any of the Gods private rooms. when she requested an item, she had to take it up with bonnie or Hermes, and they would take hours just getting it for her.

one place Charlie was allowed in, was the grand library. where they had almost every written book. often, she would find nymphs, or satyrs, or the occasional Athena sitting and reading a book. after extensive research and reading, she had discovered that her dog was a king Charles breed. Charlie was happy to find that the dog would stay small forever, because she had a love for small dogs.

aside from research on lady, the dog, she also did some greek mythology research. She didn't really care for Poseidons background, since she had heard plenty from her father, who conveniently worked in the ocean.

She instead read up on magical items, and the other gods and goddesses background. at one page, she had found a list of Hermes' magical items. at first, she was going to skip the pages about the god of travel. if there was anything she wanted to know about him, she could just ask him.

but, she remembered the list of things he was the god of. travel, mail, sports, and communication. Charlie merely smirked to herself, finding that she was super smart for remembering this in world history.

an orb that can contact mortals.

closing the large book, she placed it back on the table. if this quest didn't work, perhaps she could find a different way to contact the people she loved.

"Morning, Charlie." Athena acknowledges, holding two books of her own. Charlie stops walking, smiling. "say, have seen a book on the Cavilier King Charles? I saw you reading it yesterday and it sparked my interests."

Charlie furrowed her eyebrows, wondering what the goddess of wisdom wanted to do with information on the breed of her dog.

"over there, I think." the girl murmured, pointing to the bookshelf in the furthest corner.

"thank you," Athena turned around to go get her book, and just as Charlie was about to embark on her quest, the goddess stopped her again. "are you okay?"

Charlie hummed, her cheeks burning. of course the goddess of wisdom would catch on. "Uh, yeah, of course. why?"

Athena smiled silly, waving her hand around. "Its just you have this aroma. perhaps, mischievous.

her stomach dropped, and she shoved her hands into her pockets to hide her shaking fingers. Which, she did whenever she was nervous. "Oh, well I was going to sneak Lady into Demeter's wheat field. I just... wanted to get some exercise in, shes getting kinda fat."

the goddess of wisdom shook her head, still smiling, and went off to find her book. Meanwhile, the girl exited the library, walking quickly down the halls. maybe if she looked hard enough, she could find Hephaestus's holographic guide.
