it was a week.

somehow charlie was still pondering on whether she was alive or not. she was in a beautiful place, a place that was very much related to heaven.

charlie had made some friends during her stay, but they weren't the same as the friends she had back then. they were all dead, unlike these new friends.

aline had become her friend, the eighteen year old girl she saw a week ago. the girl was hilarious, and friendly. her jokes reminded charlie of julio, the boy who was her cousin and friend. he was funny, and somewhat dirty minded. two characteristics every normal person would look for in a friend.

but she also met hermes and bonnie. hermes, the god of travels, and also the olympus delivery boy, would visit charlie every day to discuss Poseidon's success. often he would stay for a while, talking about the places he visits, and stories of the gods.

bonnie, a girl who was around twenty, wouldn't talk very much. she was a hunter of artimas, a lieutenant probably. she always carried a bow and a quiver of arrows, and somehow war paint was always on her face. charlie wondered if that was the dress code of artimas.

today was special, and somehow charlotte forgot about this special day. the day of christmas eve, the day she would usually cuddle up with her family and watch some stupid hallmark christmas movie.

she figured she was dead after all, if there was no cliche hallmark movies or cookies.

so the whole entire day was spent pouting on the side of the bed, looking at the wall and the painting on the wall.

the painting was just a swirl of colors, and it was bright and plain. there was no specific reason or plot in the painting. it was just abstract. but somehow caught the girls attention. she stared at it the whole day, wondering why the hell she existed and why the hell such a strange thing had happened to her.

the door creaked open a crack, Poseidon's green eyes peering in the room. Charlie didn't flinch, and instead lower her eyes so she could see his face. she then moved her gaze back to the lovely painting. but it was impossible to keep looking away, so she sat up.

he examined her, a small smile creeping on his face, although it wasn't supposed to. he liked how her wild, short, dirty blonde hair fell over, making a messy lions mane. she gave an exhausted look. Poseidon knew what she was experiencing- a normal case of depression. after all, her family and friends died a week ago. her life was ruined. and only he, thought of making it better and curing the human girl.

he coughed awkwardly, knowing that today was the day humans spent family time together, gathering around a Christmas tree to share presents. he held the little canine in his arms, that was yapping and moving around in the little box he put the pup in. Poseidon had asked Bonnie what type of present he should get Charlie, something that would make her a little more happier.

a puppy is a girls best friend.

"how are you doing, love?" he asked in a low voice, only a little above a whisper. "Merry Christmas."

she blinked, not realizing what he had said. did Greek gods even celebrate Christmas? the side of her lip quirked up, forming into a short while smile. but Poseidon appreciated it, as he placed the small box on the edge of the bed.

it was a light brown box, wrapped in pink ribbon. Charlie noticed the little holes poked in the top of the box, and knew exactly what it was. she pulled the ribbon, a small whine escaping from the box. she pulled the top off with an excited smile on her face.

immediately, a little puff of fur bounced out, prancing around the bed and chewing on the blankets. Charlie couldn't help but let out a small giggle, watching the puppy with brown fur and white spots. he was a total mutt, he didn't have any specific breed.

Poseidon smiled lightly again, scratching the back of his head. "Bonnie told me that a girls best friend would be puppy, and I figured you would be all alone, so..." he stopped talking for a minute, looking down at the girl who was getting smothered in puppy kisses. "I found him in a box on a harbor. some asshole dumped him off there, and I figured you'd like him-"

"I love him!" she exclaimed, holding the puppy to her chest. he chuckled, looking at the small
