Justin and I talked for hours as we ignored the faint sound of the tv on in the background. He wanted to go on a boat ride tomorrow morning and hang out at the beach. I loved the idea, instantly becoming excited for tomorrows events. He always was such a cheesy romantic.
We went to bed that night at 10, after watching some late night tv. Of course I was the first to knock out.
I rolled over whilst asleep, uncomfortable when I woke up. As I sat up, I rubbed the sleep in my eyes as they adjusted to the bedside light I turned on. Justin was not sleeping beside me.
I got up to search for him, the other rooms empty. The security system was on, the only one in the house being me. No note was on the fridge like usual, when he would leave without me knowing.
I went back to the room, unlocking my phone. The clock read 2:43 am.
No texts or missed calls. I sent a text, asking of his whereabouts and that I was begginning to worry. No answer at all as I waited an hour. I called him, trying to at least get a hold of him. No answer.
It wasn't like him to leave unnoticed like this and I was starting to worry. I had no idea where he went or what could happen to him. But I tried to push that as from from my mind as possible, hoping all it was was just a night out.
I honestly would have been okay if he at least acknowledged his departure but it was strange and that left me worrying.
I stayed up, curled with the duvet as I watched what was left of a movie on tv. In my chest, I could feel the beat of my heart pounding with worry.
The sound of the door opening was proof that he went out. It was silent for a minute before he knocked on the door and stepped inside.
"Hey babe. Why are you awake?" He slurred.
He dragged his feet along as he made his way into the room. His hands lazily opened the drawer trying to find a t-shirt. He kicked off his sneakers and turned around, my silence heavily filling the room.
"Where were you?" I asked concerned.
He stared at me for a minute, his expression in mock as he chuckled. He pointed to himself in question and looked around as if there were someone else in the room. I laughed before he replied.
"I thought you'd be asleep when I got back. Forgive me?" He said as he pulled his shirt over his head to replace it with the plain white one. His pants pooled at his feet and he tossed them in the basket.
"That doesn't answer my question though." I pouted. I was more frustrated with the fact that he was avoiding my questions.
"Just tell me where you went, I won't be mad." I said, trying to get any kind of answer from him.
"Can we just go back to sleep?" He asked me lazily as he layed on the bed, wrapping his arm around my waist.
He pouted his lip and made a puppy dog face, not fazing me at all. The smell of his breathe was proof enough that he'd been drinking tonight.
I broke away from his grasp. His eyes were trained on me now, the argument sobering him up a bit. He looked down, realizing his fault all too late. As I got up, my feet touched the carpet. His hand held mine but I pulled away.
A sigh left his lips and it took everything within me not to look back at him and run back into his arms. He needed to know he couldn't get away with it and do something like this to me.
"Wait." He called out.
I left the room, the door closing behind me.
As I settled on the couch, I pulled the blanket that was on the arm of the couch to keep me warm. I hear the switch of the light flick off. Minutes later, I heard a pound against the wall that startled me, followed with a huff from Justin.
