She was back in the bathroom now. After those words me and Jake exchanged few words. Just that we were going to use him want them to bring us to Kyle. I feel bad for her, more then me. It is my fault. She has to think it is here fault. If I had stayed away on the decision on whether James was put up on adoption, or we kept him, this wouldn't be happening.
I know we saved James life, for Kyle wanted an abortion, but Kayla and I refused. He was put up for adoption with a close family. We visit him sometime to see him. The couple who have him is old and said when we are ready we can take him. Kyle hated this. Kayla and I saw it as an opportunity. They let us pick the name and everything. When we get out of high school we plan to take him in. Maybe before that. We never spoke about marriage, but we might just do swapping house and we go our separate ways. I don't want that. I love Kayla but I want her to be happy.
I knock three times on the bathroom door and try to open it. It opens a bit then closes. pass two notes that I know will get her to open it up. It does and I pull her out. She begins to cry and I pull her close. We then go into the dressing room and go deep in. I know she is stubborn and I don't want her to start yelling she is strong enough to stay here and Kyle hears her. She tells Jake and he calls her 'Kay'. He called her that. She laughs at this. I wish She was facing me so I can see her smile. They go in for a hug and hug for a while.
I think back to how James was doing. I missed him as well and the realization washed over me. We can't let James to grow up and have his parents not see each other. We will have to get married for James and I don't think Kayla will agree. Hopefully she will. Also I would have to find a way to propose. I mean I always have the idea of getting a ring from Kay's and not saying but asking 'Does every kiss begin with Kay?'. I stop my chain of thought when I notice her staring at me. Questioning in her eyes.
"Look, Kayla, he has a gun if you haven't noticed."
"Of course I have."
"He might not hesitate to.." No shocker.
"My brother, would not shoot me. He loves me to much to shoot me. I am part of his family. He can't point a gun at family. How dare you think him capable.." My turn.
"He was willing to kill James."
"Don't you dare bring James into this." Water fills her eyes but she, I wanted to, wiped them away, "He has nothing to do with this." Something snapped in the both of us. He had everything to do with this. I know she had to know this, she just wanted an argument without the discussion of James. It was always a touchy subject for James before he was born. Kyle wanted an abortion saying she was young. Her father and I wanted her to keep it. Her mother was for adoption. She was the only person who didn't know what to do. My parents, brother, and sister were hoping we would keep him and we would all become one big happy family. But some times life doesn't work out. Kyle hates my family. He now hates his family. No one agreed with him that he should just be kicked out this world like a puppy that has no home. I feel bad for those puppies.
"He has everything to do with this." I point to door to the stage where Kyle stands this moment. "He is out there with a gun because of James. It is his fault." I realize what I said and immediately regret it. "I'm sorry. It isn't his fault. It's Kyle's." I look down
"No it is our fault. If we hadn't have.."
"Don't say that. Kyle is the one killing people. Not James. Not us. Him. You have to remember James is my son as well."
She began to stagger. We may be able to visit, but it isn't the same. Kayla sees it as her kid but so does the lady, Ms. Krifle. Kayla wants James with her all the time, see him grow up. Right now, Ms. Krifle and Mr. Krifle are visiting there daughter in Florida and they brought James with them. Kayla hasn't seen him in a month and already hates it. We never visited at the same time, but Ms. Krifle would tell me how miserable Kayla looked.
Jake was behind ready to catch her when a small creak knocked her back to her senses. Footsteps head from the back door and come closer. Jessica and Evan turn the corner and face us. They have watches on there wrists. It looks like it is recording or in a call.
"Chief there are people in here." Jessica speaks right into the mic. Obviously in communication with the chief of police. That doesn't surprise me. What does is the fact that Kayla runs over and hugs Evan. I look on at shack from Kayla to Evan.
Kayla, on the other hand, kept breathing thank you into his shirt. The thing about the whole this was Evan looked just as shocked as I did.
