3:41 to 4:00
I watch as Kayla watches what is going on. I watch as well. She had went back in for a while and I debated tapping on the wall to try and get her attention. I watch the teachers and Kyle. Jake sat behind me. "What are we going to do? We can't just leave them there." I turn around to Jake. He leaned against a pole sitting on the ground. One knee bent the other straight.
"I don't know. I hate watching..." He cut me off.
"Then don't watch. Act. Lets do something. You say Kayla is in the bathroom. Maybe we can go through the girls dressing room and get her to slowly bring everyone through."
"We would need a distraction." I point out. That caught him. He began to think.
"Then we get a distraction." We both pause and begin to think of some kind of distraction.
"What about we knock on the doors and when Kyle goes over to it we knock on another." Jake looked really stocked about that one. I yawned. It was fake. "What is the yawn for?"
"I yawed from how unrealistic that plan is. And boring." I look back through the window. I hear Jake murmur behind me, "it wasn't stupid." I chuckle a bit. I turn back to him.
"Shouldn't we check if the girl's dressing room door is open?"
"Oh I know it is." He states not even looking, obviously still angry from my comment at his plan.
"How do you know?" I was quite curious. He seemed to realize what he had just said and looked to me.
"Uh, I just know. OK?" I don't trust that. I must question further. "Just tell me how." I got down on my knees and acted like I was praying. "I am begging on my knees." I then stuck my bottom lip out and tilted my head like a dog. I would have whimpered but I was not going to loose that much of my pride.
"Fine." He states. "I sometimes will sneak into the girls dressing room before they go in and watch from on of the stalls." I stand up shocked and jump back grossed out.
"Dude, seriously?" We looked at each other thoroughly. We stood like that for a minute.
"No, I'm just kidding. My aunt is the girl's couch and she told me." I let out a breathe, not even knowing I was holding it. He laughed at how I believed it. He was right about his aunt being the coach. "OK, calm down lets go."
Before I could even stand up I heard another gun shot. I looked through the window like a kid who just saw a new puppy in the pet store and wants it. Except the inside wasn't a happy scene like a cute puppy would be.
I knew the kid. He was one of the kids that hung out with us. He wasn't that smart. He wore his regular leather man jacket and had a bullet in the middle of his forehead. The hole didn't fit in well with his strong built body. Jake looked in as well. Him and Daniel were very close.
We went to the dressing room door in silence. We didn't say a word. When we finally got to the door, Jake tried to open. It opened, luckily silently. We walked through as silent as we could. When we finally reached the end we looked at the steps to the stage to the bathroom door, that was open.h
We creep behind the bathroom door and watch the scene that now plays before me.
"Well. Well. Well. Talking to your mommy?"
The kid he was talking to, Charlie, drops his phone and shakes his head.
"Oh to bad I think I saw you texting your mommy." He gave the kid a look. "Yes."
He shot Charlie's hand. He cradled his hand in his chest and began to cry but silently. I look through the gap to see Kayla. She looks heart broken. He fore head was crinkled up and I think I saw a tear. I wanted to reach out and hug her. Comfort her. Make it all better even with her brother's betrayal. But I couldn't he would see and get angry. We hear footsteps coming. The bathroom door begins to close almost revealing us. But we were to fast and were behind the closest wall and leaning our backs on it. When the footsteps get closer I could tell Kyle was going to the stage. How I knew? Well, it had to be Kyle because he was the only person with free will in the entire room with out getting killed. Also, he wasn't going to leave them all unattended for even a second so he wouldn't go to the bathroom or to the dressing room. Boom.
I listen to his speech. But also watch Kayla. The bathroom door had opened when we finally peeped out. "OK? Hello. Are y'all all good students." Kayla scans the room for a response, but ending with none then soon looks back at Kyle. "Good. Y'all catch on fast. I speak you all shut up. Right?" She looks around again and once more no answer. She turns back to Kyle. I do as well and look at him with disgust. Who would want to shot a school. In fact, why kill anyone. I know he wants revenge but seriously? This is ridicules. "Very nice. No I will ask once and only once. Now this is a question that you will not answer with you mouths." Great what will this idiot want, brains? He seriously needs it. "This is determined over your actions." OK, give us the question. I will gladly bring it to you. I mean I can bring you supper as well. A knuckle sandwich.
His next words shock me. I look to Kayla and see her shocked expression. She goes back in the bathroom and closes the door. Most likely crying. Thinking this is her fault. I look to Jake and see him sitting on the ground leaning his head against the wall, his eyes closed. I do the same a tap his shoulder. He looks to me and I nod. He knew what I meant. I think I saw a tear trail down his cheek. I think back to his words Bring forward Kayla Mortan and Luke Downy.
I guess we have our distraction.
