This morning when I woke up I could barely move. I don't know if it was the pain in my back or my head, but something was wrong. Well I guess this is a typical birthday for me.

Of course when I tell my mom she overreacts, but this time is different, she gets very agitated and tells me to go back to bed. I listen to her and return to my room, but not before hearing her frantically dialing the emergency phone. She never uses that phone. But that's not where it got weird. It got weird when the super old woman with the magic dust came over, but we aren't there yet. As of now, I went back to my room and tried to fall back asleep.

After an hour of trying, I finally fell asleep, and boy do I wish I hadn't. After I fell asleep, I immediately fell into a dream.

At first, I am standing in a throne room. Larger than anything I've ever seen. The ceiling stood at least 200 feet above my head. And that was when I heard it, the thunderous beat of wings that were at least three times as long as I was tall. And I was right. As the doors to the room flung open, a fully armored, winged warrior flew in, sword drawn, closing the distance between us in seconds. The angel was at least 50 feet tall, and had skin the color of liquid gold. As he went to touch the ground, his feet pulled away, drawing back up as he became smaller and smaller, until he stood before me at the height of a normal man. His golden wings folded behind him.

"Leonardo Margus, you have been summoned to the throne room of the Angel do you know why?" The winged man boomed. All I could do was shake my head in awe. "You're the son of the Great Angel, and he wishes to see you."

"What are you talking about," I asked, pulled from my astonishment. "My father died in a fire when I was young. He's not some Great Angel." The golden man only smiled.

"I see you're mother is a very skilled liar. No matter. One of you're brethren will join you on Earth soon. Follow his guidance and you shall make it here again. Join us here. Join your brethren." He the. Turned and spring form the ground. As he left the ground, he grew back to his larger self, and turned back to me. He smiled and thunder crackled.

The doors to the room burst open and hundreds of human sized winged men flew through the door. "Join your brethren." It was the giant winged mans voice, but his lips never moved. "You've heard my tale. You know how to get your wings." And then it all fell away.

When I woke, there was an old lady above me, sprinkling dust over my head. For a second I was confused, but then it all came rushing at me. The pain from this morning, and the dream. The pain had seemed to have subsided, so I focused on the dream. Then, I remembered the woman with the dust. I looked up at her and she smiled.

"So what did you dream about?" Her voice was like a rose, delicate yet sharp.

At first I thought of the angel man. I opened my moth to say something, but pain shot through my head. After the pain subsided, I noticed her watching me, and remembered her question. I searched my mind, and drew a blank. I guess I hadn't dreamed. When I shrugged my shoulders she smiled, then looked to the door where my mother had appeared. "It is done." Said the old woman. What was done?

"Thank you, and you're sure he won't remember the dream, or any of this?" My mother said without a smile on her face, and she was always smiling. The woman nodded, stood and went to my mother. She touched her shoulder and looked sympathetically at her, then left the room. "It is better this way. It is better to be forgetful than in danger." My mother crossed her arms, and left the room.

After looking at the time and deciding I couldn't skip school again, I pulled myself out of bed and grabbed my jeans. After making it down the stairs and finishing getting ready, I run to the bus stop so I can actually ride it today. On my way, I feel another sharp twinge in my back, right on my shoulder blades, and I could have sworn my feet lifted off the ground for a second. Then, of course, I trip over a crack in the concrete, but when I hit the ground it's less like an impact and more of a set down, like I had glided down to the pavement rather than fallen.

When I push myself off the sidewalk and begin to walk towards the bus stop again, I see the yellow bus pull past me and on to the next stop. I look at my watch and realize my mom will be gone already. Well, looks like I'm gonna be walking again. There's a reason I'm never on time for first hour.

Five minutes later, I'm standing at a crosswalk and something odd catches my eye. There was a homeless man across the street and from here I can almost see the outline of wings behind him. I shake my head and look at him again. I begin to notice things like how clean he is for a homeless man, and how well fed he looked. The sun came out from behind the clouds and the outline of angels wings became much more apparent, like they were glass.

I take a step towards him, and he looks up. I begin to walk over to him, but then hesitate as something catches my eye. On his wrist he wears a golden bracelet with angel wings embedded into it. This man was definitely not homeless and I wasn't sure I should stick around long enough to see why he was pretending to be. I turn to go back to the crosswalk and come face to hood with a car.

They had stopped a foot from me. Their horn blared and I could hear a few choice words coming from their windows. I hurry to the curb and, avoiding the man, made my way away from there. Looking at my watch, I realize first hour is nearly half over and break into a sprint.
