-NORMAL POV-

"Scar.." Chuck's voice faded. The unwavering expression in his eyes had given way to uncertainty. The room went silent, the only thing you can hear is Chuck's ragged breathing. Scarlet opened her mouth to speak but she was interrupted by Chuck.

"Damon is on his way." Chuck began with his eyes remaining focused on the vast skyline. "What exactly should I tell him about Viola's little stop over here? You know him when it comes to Viola." Chuck half whispered it to Scarlet like he was all of a sudden tired of talking, worry and anger are palpable in his voice. He knows enough of what happened to his brother and Viola, he witnessed how much the failed relationship had taken its toll on Damon. He had seen the aftermath.

Scarlet's eyes are filled with concern and affection towards her fiance, she rose from her seat, crossed the room and walked tenderly to where Chuck was standing. His hands were in his pockets, his eyebrows were furrowed , his mouth was pursed into a fine line, and he was staring blankly ahead to Manhattan's skyline, he was transfixed.

Preoccupied with his swirling thoughts, he didn't notice her approaching. When she was only inches away from his back, it took her no longer than a second to curl her arms around his waist, tugging him closer. Startled by her presence, he stiffened in return. Her familiar scent enveloped him, and his body began to relax. Sensing his shift in demeanor, she inched closer, the side of her face placed on his back. They stayed like that for some time, without words, needing only the intensity of their emotions.

"Oh Chuck." She said in a somber tone. "I can see how afflicted you are by Viola's visit. It is only clear that you care so much for your brother. Almost half of the time you two are present in a single room, you both are in each others throats like savages." She mustered a small smile. "It's like you both are programmed to loathe each others guts." Her smile broadened unwillingly. "And both of you are bickering like an old married couple." She continued to ponder her thoughts aloud, earning a sincere laugh from Chuck. He seemed lost for words so she continued on. "Yet in times like this, your brotherly love for Damon surfaces like the cat-and-mouse-game you two both play had never taken place. All forgiven." Chuck remained quiet and listened intently as his fiancee continued. "I have always admired that, regardless of all the disagreements and differences you two both have, you have always have each others back, no matter what. Don't stress yourself too much, Dames survived the calling off of the engagement, he will survive this too, he can handle it. Plus, he has you by his side."

Hearing it from Scarlet, it eased his nerves. He spun around to face her, and immediately wrapped her in his arms and kissed the side of her head. His lips stayed there with content. "Scar," he started with a deep inhale of breath, "I don't know what I would do without you."

It made her smile. She couldn't help it. Somehow, he always did, she didn't know how, but somehow he could always say the right words that can skip the beat of her heart, let her breath get caught up in her mouth, and the endless fluttering of butterflies in her stomach. Her history with Chuck goes way back, but she can't put a finger to why can Chuck do this to her, every time. Considering that they have been together for a long time, it didn't stop there, he can always left her breathless. Creed men have a spell under their women that works mysteriously. She thought. And a smile is forcing its way to her lips, again.

She drew back from his embrace, a blush starting to dissipate from her cheeks. She shot him with a look so vile, a kid would squirm, but he just stood there, sincere as always, and a smirk started to crept on her face. He cocked an eyebrow incredulously. "Chuckie, you are never ever going to find out, not even in another lifetime." She flicked his nose and giggled like a school girl. She started walking away from him and went to the coffee table, she sat comfortably on the nearest love seat.
