-Damon's POV-

"Viola, this is Ky." I said as I wrapped my arm around Kylie's small frame. "My girlfriend." Undoubtedly, both of them did not see it coming. Kylie's body became rigid as the word girlfriend left out of my mouth, but she composed herself immediately and offered a small smile towards Viola. The surprise on Viola's eyes was replaced, or rather hidden, she really has a way of controlling herself. She is more conducive to be fictitious rather than flesh and blood.

"Hi, I'm Kylie. Nice to meet you."

"The pleasure is all mine." I can sense the contradiction beneath Viola's sickly sweet voice. We stood there for friendly introductions but detachment is palpable. With all the tension going on, the presence of Chase seemed to be forgotten, I don't blame the guy but he is in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I leaned in to Kylie's ear. "I'm just gonna finish this monkey business with Viola. I'll see you later." I said it with enough volume to be heard by our companions as I kiss Kylie's temple without any care in the world that we are not alone.

"Let's cut to the chase, shall we?" I blurted out without even bothering to hide the annoyance in my tone.

"Can you try being civil with me Damon? I am so tired receiving this, this... Special treatment of yours." I just stared blankly at her.

"I am nothing but civil Viola." I spatted, scowling at her. "You deserve this, this... Special treatment from me - your words not mine. You think so highly of yourself Viola, but there is nothing, not even a little thing, so goddamn special about you. Your significance is as little as the filth coming out of your mouth." Her lips quivered and I could tell I struck a nerve, but her reaction was like a bubble being popped, it's long gone.

"Oh please, save me this petty little monologue." Her lips tugged into a malicious grin. The idea of splashing my hot coffee in hand is becoming more and more tempting. "What happened to us Damon?" I was not expecting her to ask that.

"Apparently, the thickness of your skin shed off like a serpent you are. Revealing the hideous, cold blooded version of yourself which is beyond unimaginable. That's what happened, are you satisfied? Or should I continue?" She glared at me as if I poured my coffee at her.

I did not wait for her to respond. "Did I hit a nerve? I never actually thought that you're flesh and blood until now." I shook my head from side to side, suppressing a smile.

"Very creative Damon. You have a way with your words. I should give you that. Is this the way you treat a long time friend? Insulting her without shame? I did not come here to rehash history, I came here to save what's left in our relationship." That wasn't the response I was expecting. She has a way with her dramatic shenanigans. I should give her at least an award.

"How dare you storm into my life again and say this like it's as easy as a walk in the park?" The venom in my voice is evident, I was enraged to say the least. "I have three pointers for you. One, Viola you are not a friend. Just including the word friend in the same sentence with your name is nauseating. Two, what's left? You mean the pain you caused me and the ones I cared about? The destruction you caused my family, and the shame you brought with your name? Your right, there is something left, pure disgust. Three, you fabricate and tell more lies than Pinocchio. Are we done here?"

"Damon. I'm..." She trailed off. "I'm really sorry." Tears are threatening to escape from her eyes. I don't even know whether to believe her state of vulnerability or not. Or, is this just a part of another game where I'm one of the pieces.
