BACK TO DALANIE'S POV
----------------%%%----------------

"WOOOOHOOOOO!" I woke up with a start to Lilith's yelling. "IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY TODAY!

"Tone it down, Lili. Your sister's still sleeping," Mum shushed.

"It's alright. I'm awake already," I sat up and yawned.

"We're going café hopping in the morning, then exploring in the afternoon, then ice skating in the evening and for dinner tonight, Dad says he's got a surprise!" Lili got on my bed and kept shaking my shoulders.

About surprises and Dad, I'm not sure they fit each other. Last time I remembered, Dad failed miserably at surprising Mum for their anniversary.

Oh well, on the bright side, I could probably see his epic fail again.

"Are you ready, honey?" Mum poked her head in through the ajar bathroom door and asked as I put on my hat. "Make sure to dress well! Dinner is right after ice skating and we're going somewhere fancy."

"Yup..." I trailed off, trying to adjust my clothes properly.

In no time flat, the four of us were out the hotel and near the lake, where there were many people already skating.

"Dal, you need to teach me how to skate this year!" Lilith tugged at my coat sleeve.

I sighed. "Then you have to stop giving up halfway. You tell me you want to skate every year but look where we are. You can barely walk around on this ice for 10 seconds without falling."

Then she started giggling, something I didn't expect her to do. On closer look, she wasn't giggling at us, she was giggling at what was behind us.

"Well," a husky voice said, cutting my thoughts. "Maybe you wanna show us how it's done? 'Cuz I'm gonna fall - for you."

I turned around.

Shock.

Major shock.

Electric shock.

I swear I almost lost my balance there.

A few seconds passed, but I just stood there like an idiot. Suddenly, the lake full of ice skating humans started to clear up.

"Care for a dance on the ice?" Zachary winked, bending forward with one hand extended towards me and the other behind his back. There in the cold, frosty air, he was wearing a suit and jet black skates. The classiest pair of skates you'd have ever seen in your life. Compared to what I was wearing, I looked rather shabby!

Looking at Lilith, she shot me a grin and skated off in perfection. When did she learn how to...?

Oh, whatever. The boy in front of me suddenly seemed so mature and gentlemanly. So grown up. So... I became lost in thought.

His hand was still extended in front of me, waiting for me to take it.

And so I did.

The sun started to set, painting the sky a festive orange. The mood was well-set, and soft waltz music was playing somewhere in the distance.

Together on the ice, in skates, we waltzed around along to the soft music under the sunset sky.

Our paces matched each other's - it was just so fitting. I didn't even care about the hows or the whys he got here. Every question I had seemed to be answered with every step we took.
