Weeks passed and Brooklyn fell more in love with the sly fox. They frequented the old treehouse, and on one unexpected meeting, Nick asked Brooklyn to marry him. She had uncharacteristically squealed in excitement and hugged him tightly.
"Yes, of course!"
Their wedding was scheduled for the following autumn.
***Weeks after the proposal, life had become normal again, and Brooklyn was in the middle of making her daily run for catnip flavored coffee when she bumped into a familiar face on the street.
"Oh I apologise miss...." He looked down at her, a smile forming across his whiskers.
"Oh, hi Robin," Brooklyn stood up and dusted herself off. "What are you doing in Zootopia?"
The white cat shrugged, "oh not much," he said, nonchalantly looking at his claws.
"Were you looking for me?"
"Not necessarily, but since you're here, I'll gladly buy you that coffee. With catnip cream right?" He smiled.
"Uh ya; you remember huh?" Brook fidgeted uncomfortably as they walked down the sidewalk.
"Of course I did. I don't think I could ever forget you." Robin turned and leaned near her, but Brook flinched and moved aside. "You haven't changed a bit you know?"
"I know," Brook rolled her eyes as they reached the coffee shop. As they stepped inside, Brook caught sight of Nick and Judy, sitting together at one of the tables farther in the back.
"Oh, no wonder why you come here..." Robin smirked when he saw Nick.
"It's a regular spot for the cops. Can you just get me the coffee and leave?"
"A pushy girl you are. Fine I'll get you the coffee." Robin calmly walked up to the counter and ordered Brook's coffee.
"Thanks, I'll see you later," Brooklyn took the coffee and began turning toward the back of the room.
"Not so fast Kitty, I think you owe me something," Robin gripped Brook's arm.
"Robin, let her go," Nick stood up, his green eyes flaming.
"Stop making a scene Robin just go," Brook tugged to get her arm free from him.
The morning I hope nothing will happen..."Wilde, I don't think you have any business here," Robin grinned, flashing perfectly white teeth.
"I think I do, she's my fiance." Nick wrapped his arm around Brooklyn's waist and pulled her away from Robin.
The white cat was stunned, looking at Brooklyn in disbelief.
"You two? Fiances? I can't believe it..." He chuckled, "wow this is weird."
"Why don't you just get out so this doesn't get any more awkward?" Brook stuffed her paws in her pockets, noticing the entire cafe staring at them.
"Fine, be that way" Robin put up his paws in defeat and strolled out.
"Are you alright?" Nick asked, putting his paw on Brook's shoulder.
"I'm fine," Brooklyn took a sip of her coffee and smirked. "At least I got something out of him, he's a jerk."
"Do you think he'll come back?" Judy hopped over carrying a carrot smoothy.
"Probably," the black cat said, seeming unconcerned.
***
"How did I know you would be here?" Brook growled at the sight of the white cat on her couch.
"You know me well," he responded, nonchalantly grooming his tail with a comb.
"Get out before I—"
"Way ahead of you babe," the heterochromic cat pointed a tiny pistol in Brooklyn's direction. "Why don't you come sit down?"
"Fat chance Robin. I'm not that stupid."
"Fine, you'll just be shot."
"You wouldn't. I'm too valuable to you. Did Mr. Big send you?"
"No I'm here on personal business, he doesn't know I'm here.
"He will" Brooklyn crossed her arms, "unless you just leave peacefully."
"What'll you do if I don't?"
"Shoot you."
"You don't have a gun," Robin fidgeted uncomfortably, sensing Brook had something up her sleeve.
"You're right, I have two."
Nick appeared above the couch from the vent in the ceiling, and Judy poked her head around the door.
"Drop the gun sir or we'll shoot," Judy said.
Robin sat in silence for a moment, and appeared to have given up, when he turned his gun up to shoot Nick, but the fox fired first, and hit Robin in the shoulder.
The white cat cursed and meowed in pain."Get an ambulance and get him locked up," Brooklyn smirked at Robin as Judy led him out. "Not as tough as you thought huh?"
Robin glared and turned his eyes away from her.
"He won't be coming around here anymore." Nick grinned and followed Judy out.
