"How you've been holding son?"

My father, currently sitting in front of the panel room. Ako naman nakatayo sa likuran ng silid. Kami lang ang nandito, dahil mamaya pa gaganapin ang kanilang meeting.

"I've been doing fine, dad. I'm trying to adapt with-"

"Son, there are no rooms for 'adapting'. Tinadhana ka para sa posisyon na ito, a leader is not adapting but rather making a new atmosphere. If you're having troubles with your associates, create an atmosphere or an aura. Don't show signs of adapting they'll grab the opportunity to destroy you."

Mahabang sermon naman niya sa akin. Grabe siya, hindi ba pwedeng nag-aadapt lang ako sa pagkain dito, halos walang lasa. O siguro mapili lang talaga ang sikmura ko?

"Yes, dad. Bat' mo ako pinatawag, I'm in the middle of my work"

He stood up from his swivel chair at lumakad papunta sa akin. He's wearing  his smile, a geniune one na usually pinapakita niya lang kay mama o kaya sa akin.

"Son, are you feeling in love lately?"

I was taken aback, usually pagpinapatawag niya ako (na nangyayari pagmay emergency at paminsan-minsan lang) always related ito sa trabaho. But, love? Really?

"Ah no-"

"Hmm. Nagkagirlfriend ka na ba?"

"Uhh, wala rin."

He nodded his head as if thinking something important, then he raised his hand to...

Pat my back. Wew akala ko it's showing. I mentally sighed.

Bumalik na siya sa pagkakaupo sa kanyang swivel chair at tinignan ang kanyang wrist watch.

"Okay son. I have a meeting so you can resume your work. And don't worry son, your old ma got your back." Then he winked at me.

Okay.

"Thanks dad, kung ano man yun."

Umalis na ako at pumunta na ng aking opisina.

This is going to be a long day. Paperworks to do and my 'coming out speech'.

What a fun day.

**Escovar residence and currently preparing for the party na gaganapin sa mismong mansion**

"Okay Chad kaya mo to, you've been like preparing for this since.... when you're fifteen. Be a man."

What am I even talking about?

"Scratch that. I mean, be a bendy man."

Mukha akong loko-loko na kinakausap ang sarili ko sa salamin. Damn it! I can't help feeling so scared right now. Siguro iskip ko na lang ang announcement ko. I'm planning whether to announce it publicly sa party or privately sa kanila ni mom.

This is the 55th year celebration noong pinatayo ang companyang ito ni Lolo.

And this is a very special one dahil bago lang lumipad ang espiritu ni Lolo papuntang heaven and I don't want to destroy that.
