"High dive intp frozen waves where the past comes back to life. Fight fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time. Hold still right before we crash cause we both know how this ends. A clock ticks till it breaks your glass and I drown in you again." - Clarity by Zedd
Chapter 6
Harry's POV
I stood in front of the ice covered window, watching the streets below. Christy stood on the white sidewalk, the snow consuming her feet. She breathed the cold air deeply; her chest slowly inflating then deflating. She stared up at the night sky, letting her eyes slightly flutter closed. The snow floated around her and she looked beautiful, standing alone on the street, wearing my clothes. Her damp, shoulder-length hair was drying into shining blonde waves. Her makeup free face looked both way before she trudged through the snow and crossing the street. Her tiny petite body disappeared into the alley, hiding from my vision.
"What the fuck is she doing?" I whispered, gripping the window pane harder with my long fingers. I couldn't see her and that made me extremely nervous. Why would she go into the alley? She was hiding something. I knew it the moment she ran out of here, needing 'fresh air'. She wasn't talking me. She wouldn't tell me where she went or who took her. She was different nowadays. She was hiding things from me, shutting me out. This wasn't her and she was starting to worry the hell out of me. First the panic attacks she was having and now she was lying to me about where she was going.
I watched the surroundings outside frantically, looking for anything out of the ordinary. Soon enough, a large, older man walked out the alley Christy was in. He ducked his head low, making it impossible to make out his face. He walked with pride, like he owned the world.
Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw Christy. She ran to the side, gripping the brick wall like it was the only thing holding her up. I watched as her body shook as she vomited on the street, changing the color of the snow laying beneath it.
Before I knew it, my feet were running out the door. My heavy footsteps thudded against the concrete ground of the apartment building hallway. I slammed my finger into the elevator button multiple times, but it was too slow and the loud hum of the elevator moving to the floors below irritated me more.
"Fuck this." I whispered, slamming my hand on the silver metal doors in frustration as I ran to the door labeled stairs. I took two at a time; my long legs carrying me quicker. I wore nothing but a tshirt and the wind froze my skin as I ran out the doors. Snow crunched under my boots, slipping slightly, but I still stayed up right, running quickly across the road until I was on my knees in front Christy. Her body shook with violent sobs. Her finger nails raked down the brick wall, breaking open the skin on her fingers. Blood surfaced on her skin, trickling down her fingers, but she didn't seem to notice as she continued to scratch the wall. Her eyes were squeezed shut. I could tell she was in pain by the way she clawed at her chest with her other hand.
"Christy." I said, sternly, hoping to get her attention. But she didn't budge. Blood ran down her hand and arm, disappearing into her sleeve. Her hand continuously raking down the brick wall. The sight before me was terrifying and it scared me. She was breaking. Her heart was now in pieces and I could tell at this point, it was hard to fix.
"Christy! Stop!" I yelled, grabbing shoulders and shaking her slightly, attempting to get her attention. She opened her eyes, looking up at me through tears. At the sight of me, she broke down into more sobs. I didn't know what the hell to do...
She quickly stood to her feet; I followed her actions, towering over her short frame. Her body spun in circles, like she was looking for someone. I could barely hear her muttering under her breath.
"This can't be happening. This can't be happening." She repeated. Her eyes avoided mine. Her hand still gripped the wall; blood ran down her fingers, but she didn't notice. Her breathing quickly became erratic and soon enough, she was gasping, finding it harder and harder to breathe. She was having another panic attack...
I gripped her blood-stained wrist and spun her around, pressing her back to my chest, wrapping my arms around hers as my hands held her wrists. Her body shook as I held her. I leaned my forehead against the back of her head.
"Calm down. You're okay." I whispered in her hair.
"I'm sorry, Harry. I'm so sorry." She sobbed. Confusion struck me. I had no idea what she was talking about. "I've messed everything up."
