Other names: Scot Fold

Origin: Scotland

The Scottish Fold is a breed of domestic cat. This breed has a natural dominant gene mutation that affects the cartilage in the body. This causes the ears to 'fold', bending forward and down towards their head. This mutation gives the cat a 'owl-like appearance.

Originally called lop-eared or lops after the lop-eared rabbit, the Scottish Fold became the cat's name.

An early study suggested that the fold is inherited as a dominant trait. A later study suggested a incomplete dominance.

(oml there is so much more genetics concerning the Scottish Fold go look on Wikipedia)
