After I get ready and head downstairs for breakfast, I can hear Kayla telling lies about me. I roll my eyes and enter the kitchen. She had a busted lip and her eye had a cut.
"Some business woman."
"Kayla what the fuck is ya problem with me? You never liked me. Why do I upset you so much even after all these years?" She didn't say anything. "Exactly Kayla you don't even know why you don't like me. And honestly I don't even care no more but just know. Every single time you try me, I will put you back in your place. I promise, you'll get enough of talking shit." I poured me some orange juice and helped my mom with breakfast.
So later that day the wedding planner comes over. My mom was looking at the vision. "So you are having it in Paris? How do you expect all of us to get there?" "Mega is paying for everybody's plane ticket ma." Kayla felt the need to speak, "there she go again rubbing her money in people's faces." "I'm not rubbing money in nobody's face bitch and why are you here, you ain't coming." My mom shot her gaze in my direction. "She is coming." "Momma I love you and respect you but blood or not this is a evil bitch. So either she not coming or I'm not having a wedding period. Take my ass straight to the court house." My mom had a defeated look and Kayla got up and walked out.
After the meeting with the wedding planner I fixed myself some wine and sat outside on the back porch. My mom came out and sat beside me. "Nicole what is going on?" "What are you talking about momma?" "Nicole you always think before jumping into any decision. You haven't known him long at all but you are jumping into a marriage with him. You've been drinking, you never used to drink at least not like this. And fighting Kayla, you've always hated her but has always been able to rise above her pettiness. What's going on?" I looked out onto the setting sun, tears roll down my face. "Momma I've never been so terrified in my life."
