HERMIONE's POV

I sat at breakfast with Ron, Harry hadn't come down yet. I watched Ronald eating his way through at least 3 portions of food. "Don't you ever stop eating!" She looked at him repulsed.
"I'm hungry ok! Just because you got a crap grade in potions stop being such a moody cow.." Ron laughed. Hermione had just about had enough. "Ronald, what we talked about the other day.." Ron dropped his fork on the table and stared at Hermione with his cheeks full of food like a gerbil. "I'm sorry Ron, I really wanted to make this work but I just can't. I have too much going on in my head, it's over Ronald. We're over." She cried, letting a single tear drop for the sake of the good times. "No! 'Mione come on you're being stupid!" He pleaded, spitting his food everywhere. "I'm not being stupid. I'm doing the right thing" Hermione sighed, and rose from the table. She ran from the hall as fast as her legs would carry her.

Harry grabbed her as she ran down the corridor, "what's happened?" He freaked out, desperately scanning her face for answers. "It's over, Ronald and me... We're finished." She explained. And Harry nodded. "Just go and get some fresh air ok, there's still time before class starts." He smiled and pulled her into a hug. "Thanks Harry. You're the best." Hermione whispered. "I know." He winked. "Please, make sure Ron's ok." She said and left the castle for a walk, she went to the bridge. She looked out at the view and took a deep breath, 'I did the right thing, he will see that one day.' Hermione consoled herself with her thoughts. 'Why is everything so complicated'. It felt like a huge weight was lifted from her shoulders, like someone had opened the cage door and she could finally fly out.

"Ello 'Ermione!" A West Country voice cheered, she smiled and turned around. "Hello Hagrid!" She beamed, "Oh! 'Ar you alright? Ya look like ya been cryin'?" Hagrid asked looking worried.
"I'm fine, it's just that Ron and I have ended our relationship." Hermione explained. "well I'm sorry 't hear tha'... I always thought yous two had somethin' special 'ah did." He smiled gently.
"You know when you love someone but..." "But not in tha' way." Hagrid nodded, he understood. "Ya gotta follow yer 'art 'Ermione." "What do you mean?" She asked the gentle half giant. "Might have 'ad a few words with old Dumbledore's paintin' tha' all.... I shoudn' said tha'.." He blushed uncomfortably and Hermione laughed. "You've got it all wrong Hagrid, I didn't dump Ron for Snape!" She insisted, "Of course not" he winked and continued on his way.

Snape was sat in the headmasters office when someone knocked at the door, "come in." He drawled. He heard the password and in came Minerva, holding Draco by the collar. "I believe this boy needs punishment, I have just caught him fighting with Mr Weasley! I saw Mr Malfoy attack him!" She shrieked with outrage. "What happened Draco?" Snape boomed, "I overheard that he and that mudblood split up, I was merely congratulating him on finally dumping the filthy mare! and he got mouthy so I shut him up." "I see, your behaviour will not be tolerated Mr Malfoy. One months detention with Filtch and 30 points from Slytherin." Snape told the boy coldly. "My father will hear about this!" Draco spat and stormed out. "I never thought I'd see the day that you take house points from Slytherin Severus." Minerva chuckled. "Well there's a first time for everything, I have to do Albus proud." He looked up at the headmasters portrait and felt sad. "Severus, you cannot still blame yourself. Albus knew it was the right thing to do, I feel remorseful over the way I have treated you over the years. Now that I know the truth." The old witch smiled. "How did you find out?" Snape inquired, Minerva looked up at the painting of Albus and chuckled. "You didn't think he would let us continue to resent you, did you?" And with that she left Severus sat there completely baffled.
