^^Snape > Hermione^^

Hermione didn't really want to go with anyone to the ball, but she felt as if she needed a good night with her friends to cheer her up. Eli was always a nice guy, if a little full of himself.
She turned the corner to see Severus shouting at Eli, she listened in on their conversation.
"You are not playing for the Hufflepuff quiddich team anymore this season Mr Spencer, just except it and get over it." Severus boomed. "Why? I haven't done anything wrong?!" Eli screamed with frustration. "You're not playing up to standard Mr Spencer, leave your attitude for professor Sprout!" "You can't do this! We have a big game coming up!" Eli pleaded, "not my problem, and if you don't wind your neck in boy I'll have you expelled." He stormed off with his robes billowing behind him.

'What the hell is going on?' Hermione thought to herself. She followed Eli into the potions classroom with Ginny and Neville, and went to sit beside Eli. "You can sit with Miss Weasley." Severus glared and she did as instructed. Harry looked at her, it finally clicked.

"I will taking over this lesson so I can see the your progress, Professor Slughorn will also be here for assistance. Please open your advanced potions book at page 47." He snapped and turned to Slughorn to discuss something. "Today, Your potions master requires each of you to create a draft of the living death. Which you were apparently meant to do a few months back. However I hear the lesson was cancelled due to a certain golden trio's absence." Severus smirked at Hermione, Harry and Ron. The room groaned and he ordered them to collect their ingredients.
Whilst brewing, He watched as Eli Spencer turned to talk to Hermione who was a few seats along. Severus' blood boiled and he placed an extra ingredient into his cauldron with a smirk.

Hermione felt his eyes on her and scowled at him, "Mr Longbottom, don't put any more in." He ordered and Neville nodded. "Miss Granger, I'm sure the potion doesn't smell that sour?" He mocked and she screwed her hands into s fist. "Look, Mudblood looks angry!" Draco laughed from across the room, "SHUT UP MALFOY! 10 points for use of that word." Severus boomed and Draco's smirk disappeared quickly. A huge bang rang out and everyone turned to look st Seamus. "It wasn't me this time guys!" He laughed, pointing at Eli. Severus smirked to himself and faced the class, "Mr Spencer, what do you think you are doing?" He seethed into his face.
"I didn't do anything, I followed the instructions!" He pleaded desperately. "Obviously you did not you insolent boy! I'm warning you Mr Spencer if I catch you messing about anymore I will be sending word to your parents, and I promise you that expulsion will occur." "You can't do that!" Hermione shrieked with anger. "I am the headmaster Miss Granger, I can do whatever the hell I want. Now get back to work you insufferable know it all." Severus demanded in a cold tone.

After the lesson Hermione followed Snape down the corridor and cornered him, "I know you're picking on Eli out of jealousy, what I don't understand is why?" She scowled with her arms crossed across her chest. "I'm not jealous in the slightest." He shrugged her off and continued down the halls. She followed him and stood in front of him to block his path, "you're clearly jealous Severus and it doesn't make sense when you never loved me anyway." "Maybe because you are right, you're just a play thing... Does that answer your questions?" He sighed, he knew what he was saying was hurting her. He didn't care, he couldn't allow himself to be so madly in love with her.
