^^Snape > Hermione^^

Hermione felt sick to the pit of her stomach, she had hated the fact that she loved him. All she knew was that she never wanted to see that vicious man again. She found it so hard to convince herself that she had done the right thing, ending it. How could it feel right when she still loved him to the moon and back. He was a coward, he never even tried to talk to her after what happened. Ron would have chased after her, he didn't even want to apologise.

She saw him at dinner the next day, she didn't go to breakfast. He sat there clutching the book in his hand and looking at her desperately. She knew what he wanted, he wasn't going to get it.
Yet he still watched her like a puppy dog praying for its owner to throw the ball.
She was broken and empty and Harry was finding it hard to deal with, she had explained everything to him and he was furious. Severus left the hall and stood for a second in the doorway his eyes fixed on her, then disappeared. He headed to the room of requirement and waited.

She never came, he waited for over an hour. And still she never came.
There was no chance of her forgiving him, no chance of her hearing him out, he would never get her back.
He felt as if none of it mattered any more, his promises to Albus, him protecting Potter. He might as well help the death eaters, a life of misery and being nothing more than a pathetic coward was all he felt he deserved.

Later in the day he was back in his office, when the door knocked and a password was spoken before he could even acknowledge the visitor. It was Potter, just what he needed.
"You are a vile man Professor Snape, you're so lucky Hermione doesn't wish to get the ministry involved with your violence. You would be in Azkaban faster than you could say the word Potion." Harry seethed with his wand pointed at Severus. "If you're going to hex me Potter I'd advise you to save your worthless opinion and get on with it, I shan't be blocking you." Severus spoke calmly, his eyes filled with sadness. Harry saw this and lowered his wand, "what you did was bang out of order." He insisted. "I'm well aware of that Potter, do you not think I have tried to apologise. She wouldn't meet me." The broken headmaster spoke. "Can you blame her? besides she's better off without you. Hopefully she will move on just fine, she has a date for the Yule Ball." "She has? Who?" Severus face dropped when he was told. "Eli Spencer, Hufflepuff." Harry explained. 'Eli, the one who is always being followed around by a group of cackling girls.' He thought to himself with envy. Harry left the wreck of a man slumped at his desk drowning his sorrows.

"It's a date to the ball, it doesn't mean she's in a relationship with the boy." Albus consoled Severus. "Of course it does, he's little Mr Perfect." "Just tell her you love her for Merlins sake, sometimes I just want to bang your heads together." Albus froze back into position.
