*time skip to early the next morning*
You wake up drenched in sweat, your heart hammering wildly against your ribs. A scream is on your lips, and the world around you is still distant, and out of focus. Someone is hovering above you, but you can't quite tell who. All you know is the overwhelming urge to get away.
You scramble backwards, eyes wide but still unseeing. A firm hand grips your shoulder, and you let out a small yelp. Colours start to come back to you, but they still don't mean anything. The thing that was hovering over you is a patchwork of tan, black, purple and green, and the one holding you ivory, teal, black, and turquoise.
You claw at the hand on your shoulder until it lets go, the owner making a small sound of protest and annoyance. Somehow managing to get to your feet in your disorientation, you scramble towards the exit. You faintly register someone calling your name. Your pace doesn't falter.
You find yourself full-out sprinting towards the water's edge, to the waves that never fail to soothe you.
Your breathing turns ragged, and you are only a few metres from the water when a force knocks you to the ground. Fresh tears start to fall, and you struggle against the force pinning you down with all your strength.
"Goddammit (y/n)! Why won't you calm down!"
You know that voice. The strength drains out of your body, and your limbs start to go limp. You are panting as your vision finally starts to sharpen and clear.
"Y-Yuto?" Your voice is weak.
"Shhh. Shh. I don't know what that was but it's okay now. I've got you."
He pulls you up so that you are sitting on his lap, and gently strokes your hair.
"Gosh, you're fast." You only just realise that he is breathing quite heavily too from having to chase you.
You are still crying, and as you breathe your breath catches half a dozen times on the way in. Yuto gently uses his thumb to brush away your tears.
The dream comes back to you. You can feel yourself start to shake with the effort of not sobbing.
"Hey. It's okay. (y/n), you're safe." His words do little to reassure you.
Yuto seems lost, unsure of what to do.
"H-how about we get you back to the warehouse."
He then brushes away your tears one more time and picks you up bridal style, carrying you gently back to where Shun waits.
Yuto's friend is anything but happy.
"What the hell was that all about?!" Yuto flinches slightly at the harsh tone.
He walks you over to a wall, and carefully places you down so that you are able to lean against it for support.
You still feel drained, and don't really know the explanation for the disorientation yourself, but you know it has something to do with your dream. That much, you can give them.
You hesitate. The situation was very personal. Technically, they have no right to know. But they seem to know more than you with a lot of these inter-dimensional things, and whatever that was last night felt too real to be a dream.
Both boys look to you expectantly.
"I-I think the dream I had last night wasn't a dream."
"That much was obvious. It was more a nightmare." Shun mutters under his breath. You ignore him and continue.
"I might be wrong, but I think it was part of my memory coming back."
Shun and Yuto just stare, and you can see the many questions forming in their heads.
"I think I was in Fusion. I don't know how I could tell, I just knew. I could feel that I was younger too. I was strapped to a bench in some sort of laboratory, and I had just woken up from the influence of whatever drug the scientists had given me. I don't think I was meant to overhear, but there was a conversation going on just outside the room, and it was pretty clear.
"They were talking about me, and some prototype that was successful. Apparently, I was able to travel between dimensions using only my mind, and some sort of amplification chip, whatever that means." You take a deep breath before continuing. "They said that I could be their most dangerous weapon yet."
You skip out the part about 'no one being able to stop you' as you don't particularly think it would help your case.
"They then went on to talk about how I should be awake by then, and how much...pain they could inflict on me before I passed out."
Shun is about to respond with whatever inconsiderate comment he had, when Yuto interrupts.
"There's something else about it that's bothering you too, isn't there? Something you haven't told us."
You give a hesitant nod. "One of the scientists who wanted to do all this testing on me – wanted to hurt me – was my mum."
You are met with silence. And then Shun's disbelief: "What?"
You try to clarify. "She was out there talking to the other scientists – her voice was unmistakeable – and she seemed quite eager to test my pain tolerance."
"She's been working with Fusion all along! Yuto, we have to find her! She might know where Ruri is and-"
He doesn't get to finish before Yuto butts in.
"Stop Shun. Even though this dream is most likely part of her previous life, almost certainly in fact with how much sense it makes, her mother has obviously changed. She does care about (y/n). Something made her completely change her attitude towards Fusion, so much so that she defied them and fled."
You take a moment to consider the possibility.
"Dad."
"Sorry?"
"It must have been Dad. There's no way to tell for sure without my memories, but he was the only person who could have that great an effect on her. She was so completely in love with him."
"That is a definite possibility."
You sigh. "The only way to find out for sure at the moment is to ask her. I guess that means I will be seeing her again sooner than I had hoped."
"(y/n), if you don't think you're ready yet then you don't have to go. We can put it off for another day or two if you want."
Yuto's suggestion is appealing, but it wouldn't help you. You weren't sure if you would ever truly be ready. Plus, who knows when Fusion will be back with more soldiers? So you take a steadying breath and say the only thing you can.
"No. I think it's time I faced my demons."

Sorry for another short chapter, but I hope you guys are enjoying the story so far!
I really want to focus on both the Arc V storyline and your storyline. A lot of the x readers I have read when they are slotted into the actual story make you work with the story as a minor character. Even if they change a few things (which I guess they would have to), it is still based around the pre-made story. I really want to focus on the reader's story, and make the Arc V story work with you. This means I will make mistakes and it won't be perfect, and my take on the reader's storyline won't be for everyone, but all I can do is try. :)
Please vote and comment as I love hearing your opinions!!
