SWISH

The sound of the whip hit a moment before it actually came down on his back. He had lost count after about 20.  The pain of the whip hurt less than the pain he felt for not being able to stay with the loves of his life. There was nothing in his life that he had or could endure that could hurt worse than this pain in his heart. Clary's face when he told her he was sorry was inked into his brain. A lone tear fell down his cheek some how he was able to smile as his tears reminded him of how much clary loved to run around outside when it rained how she would scream with joy when she felt a the first drop hit her and then giggle when people looked at her like she was crazy. He was crazy in love with her. Maybe that was why he laughed out loud. He stop when he heard the whip hit the floor. He opened his eyes and met the black void's of his brother in law, thought he didn't even deserve that title. Let alone the association to his love.

"What so funny?" Sebastian asked him. Sebastian's glare seemed to burn into him. Seb smirked at him. A plan was forming in the chestnut hair boy's brain.

"I'm just think about your little sister, hermano."Sebastian's fist hit his face and he felt blood drip down his face.

"You have no right to her. Clarissa is MINE!" He growled out inhuman.  "She always has been and she always will be and we are and will never be brothers."

"Are you just jealous that your mother would rather have me as a son. She even cooks for me, hermano." Sebastian's fist hit him again and again. At least his plan was working. As long as he could keep Sebastian's crazy self focus on him he would leave his loves alone.

Jace, Izzy, Simon, and Alec were all crowded in Alec's room thinking over what  they should do. The Mexico Institute residents continued with their mission everyday they went out and killed demon's. It had confuse the New Yorkers at first as to why they wouldn't put finding their own before till one night Chun Cho came busting into the kitchen smiling. He had said that he got some information about Sebastian but it wasn't much. Still it was something. All of a sudden Magnus came running into the room.

"Magnus what's wrong?" Alec asked pulling his boyfriend down to sit next to him.

" Jocelyn was talking with Maryse and Maria and I overheard them  say that Clary was possibly thinking about going on a solo mission."

"A solo mission? what about her kids?" Izzy asked.

"I don't know  I just saw Clary and her kids heading towards the library." Jace stood up and headed towards the door.

"What are you doing?" His parabati grabbed his arm looking into his eyes.

"I'm going to go see my son."  Simon laughed at that.

"Have you even talked to clary about that?"

"What do you thinking I'm gonna do bloodsucker. I want to get to know my child and I have to figure some stuff out with his mother thus going to meet with her." He walked out before anyone else could tell him anything. Jace knew it wasn't the best time to talk about this with Clary not when she though the love of her life was in trouble. A part of him didn't care. He felt her heart screaming out. It was screaming out in such anguish it was paralyzing. Every step he took closer he felt it screaming out louder. His own heart was whispering soothing nothings to her own.

All to soon his feet carried him to the library door. He could hear his son's laughter and the sounds of crashing. He also hear the soft, quiet  gurgling of Mason. There was Clary's  soft voice humming a sweet tune. All together it was a quiet, sweet song that held him in place for a moment before he pushed the door open. his son continued to crash two tiny cars against each other in front of his sweet mother. She sat up against the couch her knees drawn up so that mason could rest against them. She was humming to him and he replied to her with a sweet smile and the sound of gurgling.  Jace watched as Mason grabbed Clary's finger and held it. She smiled softly.

"Are you just going to stand there like a shadow or are you going to come in and talk to me." Clary's eyes didn't move away from her boys.

"We are but dust and shadows." He quoted walking into the room. He saw her stiffen. He quickly looked over his words and just as he was going to apoligise she spoke.

"No we are not. We can't be." She finally looked up at him and he was shocked. There were tear stains on her cheeks but still she smiled like she had a reason to. "What do you need, Jace?" He came and sat across from her so he was on the other side of his Luke.

"Just though we had something to talk about. But first how are you?" She chuckled.

"How should I be right now Jace? He's gone and I have no clue where he is. I want to cry and fall apart right now but I can't so I guess you can say that I'm trying Jace. I'm trying to keep my cool when I feel like the universe is trying to bury me." Before she could continue Jace reached out and put his hand on her knee.

"I get it, Clare. But I'm here and I know that's not much but I'll help as much as I can." Tears threaten to fall from her eyes. She pulled Mason closer so she could hold him close to her chest and feel him breath against her.

"You can't help me right now. I really just need him. I need him so much and so do the kids." It hurt jace to hear those words.

"Why?" He whispered The words she said next shocked him to the core. She looked into his eyes and with no remorse what so ever she said.

"Jace I'm pregnant."
