Chapter 20

His heart was collapsing in on itself as her words finally became clear.This wasn't true. It can't be. The universe can not be this cruel. It can't give him his glorious, amazing, beautiful angel back and then rip her farther away from him. When he said nothing she turned to look out the window at the setting sun.

" I need to find him." Was all she said. There was a fire in her eyes that burnt jace just by looking at it.

"You can't especially now." Jace whispered.

"Why not? Do you think i'm still that weak little girl who needs you to save her from things like her crazy hitler like father or demons she's never seen before?" Jace was shocked at her words. What had happened to make her so quick to defend herself? " I don't need you. It took me a long time jace to realize that but I have. I 've never needed you."

"If it weren't for me you would have died from the first demon..."

"Well atleast then i wouldn't even be in this situation. I wouldn't be feeling like this. And what about you? Huh without me you would have died in Idris, You'd still be trapped with Sebastian! Just admit it Jace you need me more than I've ever needed you and it kills you that the great and mighty Jace Lightwood needs someone." They heard someone cough and looked up to see everyone walk in. Chun cho came picked up Mason so Clary could stand up.

"You good?" He asked sitting on the couch.

"Ya. What do you got?" She stayed standing in the middle of everyone.

"Answer me this. If I tell you what I know right now are you going to take off?"

"Depends on what you got for me?" she looked at everyone. "He needs me."

"You have kids to think about, mija?" Maria sighed her eyes were so sad.

"You think I don't know that. My kids need their father. "

"We'll find him, Clarissa." Robert stepped up and put a hand on her shoulder.

"When?" She pushed his hand off of her and fixed an icy glare on him.  "Can you stand here right now and give me an exact time frame?"

"Clary..." Magnus started.

"I don't have time to sit  around and wait. My kids don't. Seb doesn't. We don't have time."

"We're trying." Maryse started.

"Trying can only get us so far. I know what  I have to do."

"NO!!!"The resident of the Mexico institute shouted startling Mason into tears. Clary grabbed him.

"You can't even think about doing something like this." Jose replied angerly. "To put yourself into this type of danger now."

"It's not like I haven't done it before."

"You weren't a mother before." Maria argued.

"I'm a shadowhunter. Putting myself in the way of  danger isn't an oddity among shadowhunters , even females."

"Seb wouldn't want you to do this. To trade your life his. I know my brother and I know he would kill himself before he let you take his place." Chun cho tried.

"Ya and Seb has gotten himself out of prison situation before." Alex tried though he doubted that he would make much of a difference knowing how stubborn his sister could be when she put her mind to something.

"That was a human prison. Nothing you say will make me change my mind." Clary bounced her child in her arm silently for a moment. She looked over to her first born ,completely ignoring the camotion going on around him. " It's already to late anyways."

"You didn't." Chun Cho growled in her face. "You wouldn't do something so stupid."

"I'm the only one that can do this. Luke, come on sweetheart lets go lay down." her son jumped up and raced to grab her hand.

"Clarissa please wait." Maria halted clary at the door. "There has to be another way it's can't end like this. "

"It doesn't." She gave them all a smile before walking out
