PaperJam snapped awake and was about to move when a loud voice screamed at him.
"Don't move!" Ink screamed, PaperJam froze his hand hovering in the air. "Stay there!" Ink's eyes were filled with fear. PaperJam could smell the faint metallic scent of blood hanging in the air, directly in front of him was Ink who looked on the edge of tears. Fresh had plastered his eyes shut, his glasses were no where to be see. Error's face was covered in more glitches than normal and his eyes were covered by white and red errors.
"Let's play a game..." Cross said as he walked into the middle of the circle of skeletons his feet tapping loudly in the dark room, the only light was Cross' magic and the circles of magic surrounding the others. Cross held a clip-board and a pencil in his hands as he glanced around the circle, his face devoid of all emotion. "This shall be the first test! A test of kindness dedicated to the Creator!" Cross said with a small gesture to Ink and a large smile. "Now Error you can either stab your beloved Ink in the arm three times or I do the same to any part of your body," He paused. "You have twenty seconds to decide," Cross smiled. Error's eyes had cleared and every skeleton held an expression of horror on their faces.
"Y-you can't do this!" PaperJam yelled. Cross smiled and turned to PaperJam.
"Oh but I can, sweetie," Cross said with faked kindness. "5 seconds Error," He said turning back to Error. "Time's up! So what'll it be?" Cross asked. Ink was clearly ready for Error to choose to hurt him, but nothing happened.
"Me," Error said in an unwavering tone.
"N-no..! You should have hurt me!" Ink said.
"Well, your choice," Cross said with another smile. Cross held a knife high above his head as he pondered what to do. Cross brought down the blade swiftly upon Error's ribs, barely missing his soul. Error cried out in pain as tears pricked his eyes. Cross did this two more times, now leaving Error clutching his chest as blood soaked his clothes and hands. Cross turned to Ink. "So will you stab Fresh three times, in a place of your choosing or let me stab Error again?" Ink gasped, he didn't want anyone to be hurt!
"I-i-i," Ink stuttered and soon the countdown was over.
"Well, what'll it be Creator?" Cross asked, holding out the knife in his hand.
"I-i-i'l s-stab F-f-fresh," Ink felt hot tears fall from his cheek bones as Cross handed him the knife and let the circles of magic dissipate. Fresh prepared for Ink to attack him but instead something else happened. Ink threw the knife at Cross as he tried to run. Suddenly there was a flash of purple magic and the sound of lightning ripping through a tree, a loud scream echoed in the room.
"Fresh!" PaperJam cried, tears streaming down his face.
"Tch, tch, tch, Ink you need to be smarter than that," Cross said magically pulling Ink back. "And if anyone tries to run again someone else will die," Cross paused. "Ah but Ink you still need to complete it," PaperJam was sobbing loudly as Ink was handed the knife again. Ink let silent tears fall as he stabbed the charred corpse of what had once been Fresh Sans.
"There! Take your stupid knife back!" Ink cried out handing Cross the knife aggressively as he was thrown back into his circle. Error was gasping frantically both from pain and from shock.
"Now, PaperJam," Cross paused almost laughing at PaperJam's tears. "Will you stab Ink three times or Error three times?" PaperJam just sobbed harder. "Come on we don't have all day crybaby," Cross rolled his eye-lights.
"I-i-i-ink," PaperJam whispered.
"I'm sorry what was that?"
"I-i-i-ink," He said loud enough for Cross to actually hear him.
"Well here you are," Cross held out the knife dripping with Fresh and Error's blood still. PaperJam's hand shook heavily as he reached out for it.
