Month 8

"I'm back!" Draco exclaimed as he walked into the door of my chambers with a plate piled high with a variety of fruits.

"Draco, we've talked about this." I began, taking a deep breath. "When you say that you're going to get me food and you return with bloody healthy fruits and vegetables, well, it makes me want to cry."

"I know you said that, but I just want to make sure that you're getting the nutrients you need so that our baby will be healthy..." his voice slowly faded off as he realized how uninterested I was in what he was saying unless it was an apology. "You do realize that today marks the eighth month of your pregnancy, right?"

The second I understood what he meant by that, I jumped out of bed. Well, more like I pushed myself up slowly, one hand on my stomach and one hand on my bed, and groaned and stretched the second I was free from the restraints of my sheets and mattress.

"Eight months means that Madame Pomfrey would be fine with me going into labor. Which means that I don't have to be on bed rest anymore, do I? I'm free!" I crossed the room to the door and was planning on going down to the Great Hall to get myself my own unhealthy food, but Draco blocked my way.

"Not so fast, you can't just go back to running around the school like your usual self. You should still take it easy. Actually, Madame Pomfrey wanted the first thing you did once you got into your eighth month to be stopping by the infirmary. She wants to check up on you and make sure all is going well."

"Bloody hell, I feel fine. A little tired from the two weeks in bed, but I feel fine."

Just as I was about to exit the room, I felt the same pain I felt before.

"Shit," I said before leaning forward onto Draco. "Shit, shit, shit!"

"Infirmary?" He asked, a nervous edge to his tone.

I silently nodded, and he transported us there, all the while keeping his arms around me.

"Ms. Granger, I'm so happy to see you! How is everything?" Madame Pomfrey graciously asked, to which I replied:

"Get me a bloody bed before I kill someone!"

"The contractions started again?" Pomfrey asked Draco.

"I would say so, she hasn't really said anything besides what you just heard."

While I waited for them to be done with their conversation about me, a couple of other nurses pulled the curtain around a bed and helped me change into a gown. I was then allowed to lie down on the bed, where they cast a spell to check the heart rate and blood pressure of my baby and me.

One nurse, who looked to be around 20 years old, looked at me with fear, and I could see in her eyes that my baby was going to be the first baby she ever assisted in the delivery of. Of course, when a person acquires a job as a nurse at a boarding school for young witches and wizards, said nurse probably doesn't consider that they will have to assist in the births of the students' children.

Draco quickly made his way to my side once I was lying down and got into the chair next to the bed. "Listen, I'm not very experienced with this stuff, so I don't know how helpful I'll be at making you feel comfortable," he said to me, and I scoffed.

"Oh, and I'm super experienced in giving birth to babies. Cut the shit, Draco. Neither of us has any idea what we were doing during my pregnancy, what we do now, and what we're supposed to do after I give birth." I was interrupted by another contraction.

"You're five centimeters dilated, so you still have a fair amount of time left to go before it's going to be time to push," Madame Pomfrey hesitantly told me, as she was scared I would rip her apart as I was Draco. "I would recommend getting up and walking around in the infirmary, it could help you manage your pain and ease labor in general."

The second the words left her mouth, I asked Draco to help me up. After I had managed to stand, I began pacing between unoccupied beds, my mind racing in a million different directions. I was worried that I would end up being a horrible mother. I mean, to be a mother so young can lead to a lot of problems, and I was sure that I would go through each and every one. And what if Draco decided he wanted to be with someone who hadn't manipulated him at the start of their relationship. If I was being honest, I could understand him wanting to do that...
