Opposites Attract (A Velvet and Yatsuhashi Fanfiction)

Yatsuhashi: Protection

"Coco Adel, Fox Alistair, Velvet Scarlatina, and Yatsuhashi Dachi."

Yatsuhashi walked up onto the stage next to Velvet, Fox and Coco as their pictures appeared above. When Professor Ozpin began talking, he noticed Velvet looking a little nervous. Coco seemed to sense this as well, because she put an arm around her new friend.

Ozpin smiled at the four of them. "You four retrieved the white queen pieces. From now on, you will work together as Team CFVY."

Velvet clapped her hands excitedly, and Yatsuhashi smiled. "Led by, Coco Adel!"

Coco gasped. "Really? Cool, thank you!"

Ozpin nodded. "You're welcome, Miss Adel."

They walked off the stage amidst the cheers of every student. Yatsuhashi saw Velvet being approached by a couple of girls, and he inched closer to hear what was being said.

The one on the right laughed. "Nice work getting into a team after all, Scarlatina. You'd think those three would have the common sense not to get themselves paired up with a Faunus."

Yatsuhashi clenched his fists. Velvet had briefly mentioned how some people didn't like her just because of her ears, and he was beginning to see how true that was.

Velvet winced, and the girl on the left giggled at her expression. "I pity those poor teammates of yours, really. They don't seem to notice what you really are!"

Coco and Fox were suddenly right next to him.

"Yatsu, are these girls bothering our teammate?" Coco asked sarcastically.

Fox lifted his head up. "I think we need to scare them off."

Yatsuhashi nodded, and walked to Velvet's side. The two girls giggled, but faltered when he put his hand on his sword.

"Hey, don't hurt us. Velvet knows what we're saying is true. She's learned to accept it, hasn't she, bunny?"

Velvet clenched her small fists, but she still looked scared. Coco and Fox sidled up behind the girls, and Coco gave a low chuckle.

"I suggest you leave our friend alone. We wouldn't want your pretty faces to get damaged, now would we?"

The girls spun around, their eyes widening. "We didn't mean to start any trouble! We'll leave, just don't hurt us!"

Fox growled. "See that you do leave, and there won't be any trouble."

The girls scurried off, and Coco stretched. "Well, that was a lot less satisfying then I though it would be."

Velvet was bright red. "You guys didn't have to come over here, you could have gotten in trouble..."

Yatsuhashi put a hand on Velvet's shoulder. "Hey. We'll always be here to defend you."

Coco nodded. "Yeah, even if it means breaking some rules."

Fox frowned. "But, we'll try not to break any rules while we're here."

Coco crossed her arms in a mock pout. "Aw, fine."

Velvet smiled. "Thank you guys."

Yatsuhashi felt Velvet's arms around his waist, and he heard Coco snickering. He looked down and smiled.

She was the most innocent of all of them, and her teammates felt a mutual understanding to protect that innocence no matter what.

Yatsuhashi felt Velvet pull away and tug at one of her ears as students began to leave the hall. 

As the two girls passed them, one of them bumped into Velvet, making her stumble back into Yatsuhashi. The bunny looked over her shoulder, doing her best to glare, and failing.

Yatsuhashi wrapped an arm around his partner's shoulder. "Come on, let's go find our dorm."

Team CFVY walked out of the hall, Coco and Fox exchanging mock flirty remarks, which Velvet evidently found hilarious.
