~~~~~Blake's POV~~~~~
The nurse bandaged my nose and I exhale. Dylan gives me an encouraging smile but I could see in his eyes he was disappointed in himself. For what, I did not know.
I smiled back and after a short while the nurse let me go to class.
We walked back in silence until we got to my locker for the second time today. Dylan leaned on his locker in deep thought, his eyebrows knitting together with every thought he made.
"What are you thinking?" I ask. My voice echoeing in the hallway since everyone else is in class.
He looks at the ground and speaks with a hoarse voice,
"I-I don't l-like what they d-do to you Blake." he says, eyes still fixated on the ground.
He looks at me suddenly and his tone of voice changes.
"It's got to stop, Blake. They have to stop. What they do is not right." he states. He picks a loose strand of hair and pulls it behind my ear. He pulls me into a hug and I take in his satisfying scent and hug him back.
He smells of sweet mint and faint Dill Pickle Lays.
What an odd boy. I think to myself but smile.
He lets go and says in a low whisper,
"Let's hang out after school?" he says but it comes out as a question. I know he is just trying to take it slow, knowing I could break down at any second.
I slowly nod and he grins. I roll my eyes and turn to put the lock in my combination.
I open my locker and pull out my history notebook and textbook and my pencil case. I squeeze my eyes shut when I hear the sound of $700 heels clicking and clacking against the floor.
And those $700 heels belong to Maddie.
