Looking out her bedroom window, Kennedy slipped her jacket on and pulled the zipper up. She could hear her stepfather making noise in the kitchen getting ready for work. Kennedy looked down at her black cat as he stared at her. She sighed and rubbed his head.
Hearing a truck horn, Kennedy shoved her phone in her pack and braved the journey down the stairs. She could see her stepfather drinking from his coffee cup.
"I'm out." Kennedy said.
"Try not to kill anybody." Earl said, and Kennedy nodded even though Earl didn't see her. Kennedy made her way outside and walked up to Lyle's truck. Diesel, who had been sitting in the passenger seat, climbed out and let Kennedy get in.
Diesel and Kennedy said nothing to each other as Lyle made the drive to school. The level of awkwardness was high between the three of them as Lyle kept quiet and hadn't said anything.
--------------------
The drive to Kent High had only taken ten minutes because Kennedy lived closer to the school than Diesel or Lyle did.
Kennedy looked at the school from where the three sat in Lyle's parked truck sat.
"I can't believe I'm stuck in this pit on a Saturday." Diesel said as he looked at the school.
"We could've got kicked out." Lyle replied looking at Diesel. He then looked down at the knife that Diesel was sharpening. "Yo, that looks just like Dwight's knife."
"That's 'cause it was Dwight's knife."
"Dude, you stole it?"
"Nah...he gave it to me." The guys both chuckled only to hear Kennedy scuff. They looked at her. "What?"
"That puny thing couldn't kill a cow." Kennedy finally spoke.
"Just because your knife looks like something out of Rambo..." Diesel said as he took Kennedy's knife out of the glove compartment. "...don't talk shit on mine." Kennedy smirked and snatched the blade from his hand.
"Don't be jealous that you have a smaller manhood than me." Lyle couldn't hold in the chuckle and got a death glare from Diesel.
----------------------------
Kennedy, Diesel, and Lyle joined Violet Adams in the room that was serving as the detention center. The three friends looked up at Grover Jones came walking in. Kennedy knew everybody in the school and knew Grover did not belong her.
They watched as he talked with the coach, and he was allowed to stay. Kennedy smirked as Grover sat down.
"Alright people, I gotta go get something." Coach said to the five of them. "Let's put the cell phones away. Eyes forward. Mouths shut." Coach then looked at Kennedy. "Keep the bloodshed at a zero." Kennedy smirked at the coach walked out.
The minute the door was shut, Diesel climbed onto the desk he was sitting at, and the two girls pulled out their phones. Kennedy, Diesel, and Lyle all looked up at Grover who was now trying to converse with Violet.
"Hey, I'm Grover and you're..." Grover said to Violet but was ignored by her. The two guys smirked while Kennedy rolled her eyes. "...busy, I can respect that."
"Hey, Elmo, she's ignoring you because you're a candy ass loser." Diesel said with a slight smirk. Grover ignored Diesel and continued trying to talk to Violet.
"I know Grover is an odd name, but it was my mom's favorite uncle."
"That's not what your mother said last night." Diesel said causing Kennedy to look at him. "She told me she gets sad when she sees you."
