Chapter 23

Cairo's POV

I kept tossing and turning in my bed. I couldn't fall asleep. Every time I shut my eyes it would immediately open. After what felt like 20 minutes of trying to fall asleep I just gave up. I looked on my phone to see what time it is.

4:32am

I got up from bed and grabbed a blanket then went downstairs to my living room. I just sat there in dark thinking. I was thinking how my life would be if I didn't kill Ryan and the girl he cheated on me with. I would probably be way nicer and happier. I would be how I used to be before all this happened.

"See what you did to me." He hissed

"Now you can live miserable life." He laughed

I covered my ears. STOP! Why can I still hear his voice like he was alive.

FLASHBACK

It's 3:52am and he's still not home. This is the seventh time he has been coming home late. I stayed in the living room to wait for Ryan to come. My eyes started getting heavy. As soon as I was about to shut my eyes I heard the door close.

"WHY THE FUCK AREN'T YOU IN BED." Ryan screamed making me jump

"IS IT SO WRONG THAT I WANTED TO WAIT FOR YOU?" I said back but quickly regretted it

He gave that death stare.

"Where were you?" I asked breaking the silence between us

"Work." He mumbled

I knew he was lying.

"Why do you smell like alcohol?" I asked

"Cairo I don't want to talk about this!" He said pushing me down to the ground

I watched him walk to the room. There's no way I'm sleeping with him tonight. I walked back to the couch. I laid down pulling the covers over me. I'll just talk to him when he isn't drunk.

"DIDN'T I TELL YOUR ASS TO GO TO BED." Ryan yelled pulling me by my hair off the couch

I screamed in pain.

"RYAN LET GO!" I yelled

"I SAID GO TO BED!" He screamed

He threw me against the wall.

"IF YOU'RE NOT THERE IN 5 SECONDS YOU'LL SEE WHAT I'LL DO TO YOUR ASS" he hissed

I nodded and quickly went to our room. He walked in the room and laid down next to me on the bed. He put his arm around me. I flinched when he touched me.

"Good girl" he whispered in my ear

That's when our relationship started going south. The day when he beat me for no fucking reason.

"You deserved everything." He said

"Yeah sure I deserved everything." I said back

"Oh now you think you're all big and bad now huh?" He laughed "Cairo you're just a weak pathetic piece of shit."

He always knew what to say that will hurt me.

"Your own parents and brother think you're a monster." He smiled

"I don't care about what they think." I said
