Brooklyn's POV
Theo is practically pulling my arm out of its socket as he leads me up the stairs and into the main floor of the venue. My arm is starting to go numb and his grip on my wrist isn't helping.
"Theo!" I yelp. He whips around and stares at me.
"What?" He asks in firm yet inquisitive tone. I find myself taking a sharp breath in, trying to keep my mind off of my arm
"You're hurting my arm! Let go of it!" I demand as I pull my arm away. His glare softens and he takes a step back.
"I didn't mean to hurt you" he says softly as he takes yet another step back.
"Well you did" I say a bit harshly, rubbing my arm where his hand mark is. I hear him sigh as he rubs his eyes in frustration.
"Listen" he dead pans "I just want you to follow me so I can bring you to your mother. That's all"
I feel bad. It's his job to make sure I'm safe and I'm not making it any easier by running away. I look up from my arm to meet his green eyes
"okay. I understand, let's go" I utter in defeat. Despite the situation he gives me a small smile and puts an arm around me as we continue our journey to the venue.
There are hundreds of people spread about the humongous room. They are all talking and enjoy the company of others. Me on the other hand, I am sweating and nervous. I don't want to face my parents, especially my mom. The distance between us is already a lot to handle and I don't want that to increase. But who am I kidding I know she is gong to be mad and there is nothing I can do to change that.
We start to approach the table where we were all seated, but no one is there besides the waiter taking the cups away from the table. I can see Theo scanning the room to find any signs of my parents, and I follow his gaze to prepare myself for the worst.
Finally, his state stops across the room. "There" he states "Your mom is over there"
I take a long look in his direction looking for any trace of my mom. My eyes land on her, her face scrunched up in worry as she talks to the security guard for the event. She is decked out in one of the Chanel collection outfits, a black jacket with gold trim and a white ruffle collar. I wish I could pull off the look as well as she does.
I am broken out of my thoughts when blue eyes meet blue eyes across the room. My heart rate instantly starts to increase and I grip on to Theo tightly.
Across the room I can see mom excuse herself as she makes her way across the room at a methodical pace.
I shouldn't be scared of my own mother, but the look on her face means business and I can't help but shrink down in size. I mentally prepare myself as she finally approaches me
"Brooklyn Jocelyn Kinnaman where have you been?" She yells from her statue like stance in front of me.
I gulp and turn my eyes to the floor. I'm going to need help explaining this one.
