Margot POV:
I couldn't get Grace to talk to me at all about what happened. She didn't even utter a word when I asked her why she would lie to me. I just sent her to her room for the night and she silently went on her way. We will have to talk tomorrow, but right now I have too much rolling around in my head.
Of all the things to do, he lies about Brooklyn running away. I know that they are best friends, but Brooklyn could have been taken for all I know. I take a deep breath in and try to relax my mind. I'm actually thinking about Jared now. I miss him. Having two teenagers at home isn't exactly the easiest thing to handle on your own.
Speaking of teenagers, I hear footsteps coming toward my door. A small part of me was hoping it would be Grace, but I see Sebastian round the corner with a confused look on his face.
"Mom, why is Brooklyn in the guest room?" he questions stepping closer to me on the bed. I can't, but smile at him. My not so little boy stands almost 6', tall for a 14 year old, and has striking hazel eyes and chocolate brown hair. He picked up more of his father traits, but that's fine with me. Whenever I look at Sebastian I think of Jared and it makes me happy.
I must have been zoning out because I feel Sebastian nudge me on the shoulder.
"Mom?" I pat the seat beside me asking him to sit down.
"Sorry baby I'm a little distracted. Brooklyn is here because she ran away from her house"
"What?" he lets out in a incredulous tone. I find it funny that he is the sensible on in this situation, usually Grace is the one with a better conscious.
"Brooklyn ran away and Grace told me they were having a sleepover, but Cara called me in a fuss and looking for her. They are both in bed now." Sebastian has a shocked look on his face. He must not be able to believe what Grace did either.
"Grace lied to you? Wow..." He lets out a laugh at the end. I smirk and lightly hit him on the arm.
"Its not funny. She lied....to me of all people" Sebastian laughs again.
"Mom, Grace probably lied to make sure Brooklyn was okay. She couldn't go to her so she thought Brooklyn coming to her was easier. It was stupid to say yes to Brooklyn, but I don't think she meant any harm from it." I can't help but sigh. Sebastian has a point. Grace wouldn't have had Brooklyn come over if she wasn't worried about her.
"I understand Grace wanted to make sure Brooklyn was okay, but that doesn't give her the right to lie" I stress. Sebastian turns to look at me.
"She shouldn't have lied, but her heart was in the right place. Grace has a big heart and it sometimes can overtake her emotions." I smile. Sebastian always has Grace's best interest at heart. He always has. I wrap my arm around his shoulder and pull him close to me as he lays his head on my shoulder.
"When did you become so smart?" I ask him, placing a kiss on his head. I can hear him chuckle.
"I've always been smart" He says standing up. "Your just smarter" I laugh.
"You're such a kiss ass" He turns around from his position in the doorway.
"But I'm your kiss ass. Goodnight Mom"
"Goodnight Baby" Despite the crazy things they do, I have the best kids. I know Grace was trying to be a good friend, but she should know better. I will just have to talk to her when Joel and Cara get here tomorrow. It should be interesting.
