I was surprised to see how many people we could fit inside our throne room. I have seen many parties held here, but never a trial. Mats were spread in row along the floor. On the small stage was my throne and a seat for Apeta. Off to the side was Sekhemkhet's empty chair. My throne was the highest. It was now time to be formal and act like a Queen.
I walked up to the stage and everyone bowed and chanted, "All hail the Pharaoh! All hail the Pharaoh!" When everybody sat down my voice echoed throughout the room as I said, "Bring in the prisoner!"
I was shocked to see the once proud Sekhemkhet lower than a slave in rags and dragging chains. He was bald without his wig and was already growing thin. He looked horrible.
"What are your charges?" I asked. I made my stare cold and powerful at the same time. Deep down I was worried and afraid.
"High Treason," he mumbled.
"Speak up!"
"High Treason,"
"Prince Sekhemkhet along with Princess Aua put poison into my wine," I paused and took a deep breath, "Aua is on her deathbed right now. According to law, he should be put to death." The crowd was silent. "I have decided to sentence him to prison until further notice. He sentence length shall be decided later." This time the crowd was cheering. I am still scared he is still in the succession line and he can still kill me.
