A slight shaking woke me up to my mother smiling pleasantly. Shocker. I wiped at my eyes as my vision blurred but soon became clear yet again. My room lit with a reddish orange gave Mom and calming glow. Her eyes began to look around the room wildly like a bull in a rodeo. She was anything but calm.

''Ah, sweety, I don't know what to really say so I'll just go right ahead and say it. I love you. Yes, I don't say it everyday but hope you know I mean it when I say this.''

''Wow, Mom. Ummm, I love you too.''

''And remember if you ever need to talk I'm a yell away,'' she smiled painfully broad as she said this and stepped out my room.

I felt a warm tingly sensation spread throughout my body, all the way to my fingertips and toes, after our little heart to heart. Oh what a feeling it is to be loved.

Remembering I was supposed to be meeting Charlie too made me feel even better. This was turning into a great morning. As soon as I finished my daily routine I plopped down in my ever so comfy bed and looked down at my graphic tee. In bold purple words against a grey background it read :

You looked better on Instagram!

It being only 7 am I was plagued by boredom. I squeezed my brained for ideas and drummed a beat with my fingers absentmindedly. A stroll inside the mall sounds good. Hmm maybe I'll even do a little shopping while I'm there. Then it's settled. I grabbed my money and my phone and skipped happily down my wooden steep stairs.

I peered into the kitchen and found my Mom flipping eggs. Woah! I wish I could frame this.

''Hey Lucy. Come, sit down, breakfast will soon be ready.''

I hesitated at first but agreed.

Eggs sunny side up, crispy golden hash browns, sausage and toast were placed neatly and orderly on my plate after that she placed a glass of orange juice beside it. As if on cue my tummy growled.

I kissed Mom goodbye and skipped happily outside. Breakfast was great. We talked about my grades and nothing else in particular. It's nice to see her taking interest in my life.

The sun shone brightly against my skin leaving my cheeks a flushed pink, a slight breeze playfully danced with my brunette hair as I past the park. In a few hours I'd be meeting Charlie and maybe spend the day with him. Sometimes I wonder why I put myself through this.

The leaves crunched before me an my head flew up. The happiest couple held hands firmly as if each other were their lifelines and pure admiration beamed from their smiles. I sped up and walked passed them but not without looking back in fixation. Not 5 minutes later I was standing infront of the local mall.

The plastic trees look great this time of year, I must say.

Now, when I say I shopped till I dropped I am not exaggerating. Three hours, five caramel flan lattes, a few beanies and  other garments later I was carried out of the mall to Mom's car. Exhaustion gripped my body tightly as I thanked the security guard. I began to sip on my lemonade like a little child and bounce around in the backseat. All that caffeine seemed like a good idea at the time. Boy, was I wrong.

The car pulled up in the drive way and Mom turned off the engine.  I perked up at the prospect of seeing Charlie and swiftly grabbed my bags and lemonade and made it upstairs after shouting a ''Thanks Mom!'' over my shoulder. Being overly eager I skipped a stair or two.

I emptied the bags of clothes on bed and decided to wear a sliver bracelet along with my outfit. I grabbed my brush and combed through my thick curls. Damn! I look good! Satisfied with my gorgeous appearance I grabbed my art supplies and moved down the stairs still hyper. I poked my head through the kitchen's entrance  and smiled a toothy smile over at Mom who was doing her housework.
