My Friend with Benefits Stole My Heart - Chapter 9

Have you ever felt a freight train slam into your head with a force of a thousand startled wildebeests running from savage, carnivorous lions? Probably not but that was what I expected my headache to feel like.

The sunlight illuminated my room which displayed and awful sight. I absorbed my clothes scattered carelessly on the ground and then something warm stirred beside me.

What?!

A still sleeping Charlie held me closely in a spooning position. A sense of safety wafted over my nerves, then self hatred. I looked left. I looked right. No one but me and Charlie. Deciding to have some fun, I began trying to escape over Charlie.

You're just trying to be caught in this position by him.

Oh shut up me.

Make me.

Tuning my conscious out, I began my adventure again baffled that he was such a heavy sleeper. Well if that's the case...

Poke

I softly poked his nose and snickered as it twitched as if he were a rabbit. I continued to poke him in various places until I reached his tummy. Hmm. Gently or not?

NOT!

My index finger came down hard on his tummy but finger was the one in pain. I bit back a yelp. Not lifting his shirt too much I glanced at a perfect 6 pack begging to be worshiped. Suddenly, Body Party by Ciara began to echo of the walls.

Losing my balance I slipped and was full straddling a now awoken Charlie accompanied by the bedroom being busted open with so much force it could only be Axel.

Axel looked from my embarrassed face to Charlie's innocent one. Getting up I blushed profusely being caught in such a provocative position with my newly found fake boyfriend.

I always knew I was a little slutty. I hurriedly got off of Charlie and sat on the bed.

Next, followed a tackle I hadn't foreseen. Axel was atop of Charlie punching like a mad man! The room now had a static feel to it.

I yanked at Axel forcefully shouting,''Get off of him! What the hell is wrong with you?!''

Seeming stunned for a second Charlie took the advantage and socked Axel squarely in the jaw. That's got to hurt.  Axel was beginning to go for Charlie again but I stepped between them holding my arms out.

''No.''

And that was my final word before taking Charlie's hand and sitting on the bed with him beside me.

''Could us some privacy?'' I asked Axel without taking my eyes off Charlie.

Without a sound he left and slammed the door brutally behind him. The air in the room immediately thinned.

''You okay Char Char?'' I asked while examining his burst lip.

''Other than a busted up lip, I'm peachy.''

''Do we think we should give up on the plan?''

I didn't want to but if I care about Charlie's safety I would. No matter what the reason was for Axel's actions he shouldn't have fought Charlie. Axel can get pretty violent....

''No! Isn't this what you wanted? You've got his attention, his jealousy and did I mention his undivided attention?''

''But not if it means you get hurt.''

''Why do you care about my safety? I can handle myself.''

''Axel's a loose cannon and-''

''Nope, none of that. We're gonna freshen up, go down stairs, act like a happy couple, kiss and say goodbye.''

''Yes, sir!'' I mocked.

After a shower full of nagging myself that I am selfish bitch, I held Charlie's warm hand in mine at the top of the staircase and swallowed the bittersweet taste in my mouth.

''Like I said. Just act like we're madly in love, babe.''

Charlie kissed my forehead. Probably as a friendly gesture but my body took the simple gesture as a signal to awake my hormones. Why?!

Slowly, we descended the flight of stairs. Each step I took brought me closer to Axel and I wans't ready. I really like him but I like Charlie. Why must everything be so confusing? Couldn't I have been born a werewolf with a mate and it's no one but him? No. Apparently not....

During my little silent rant in the back of my head we had reached our destination. Axel and Kate sat side by side their legs touching comfortably on the couch while Amy was napping in the armchair.

Just seeing Axel and Kate made my blood boil. I'm pretty sure it couldn't get any hotter.

Putting on my best smile, I said, ''Morning guys! What's for breakfast and where's Jake?''

''He's searching for some food in this barren house,'' retorted a close eyed Amy.

''By the way what did you give us to drink last night?'' Kate asked leaving her comfy spot beside Axel which helped ease my nerves.

''Water.''

''That's explains why my head wasn't pounding this morning...,'' Jake interjected.

''Charlie you're the best,'' said Amy gratefully.

''Still hungry over here,'' Axel said with an edge to his voice.

''How about Starbucks?'' Charlie suggested.

I noted how calm an unaffected he was by Axel's moodiness.

''Onward to Starbucks!!'' we cheered.

We all filed out of the house ready for breakfast but there was one thing left to decide. Two cars were parked. One in the driveway, Char's, and one in the street, Axel's.

''Hey Lucy. How about you ride with me?'' Axel suggested with a wolfish grin.

''Nah. I'd rather ride with Charlie.''

I grasped Charlie's hand which sent fire licking up my spine.

''Come on Lu. You don't want to be that kind of girlfriend.''

And in that moment it seemed as if everyone had been deteriorated by the wind as our eyes locked. Was he challenging me?

''Ok fine. I'll ride with you but only to prove you wrong.''

I turned to face Charlie and cupped his warm rosy cheek. He held my waist and pulled me closer to his body catching my drift. My eyes drifted to his full pink lips and I licked mine. Here goes nothing.... The few inches that separate our lips would soon be closed.  We locked eyes. Then lips.

We moved in synchronized harmony as our lips feathered over one another's. His lips were so soft and I loved the taste. Charlie sucked on my bottom lip asking for entrance but he wouldn't get in that easily. As the gentle sweet kiss continued it intensified when he bit my bottom lip making me gasp. He wasted no time. In mere seconds our tongues were dancing together with pure lust in the air.

Charlie was the first to pull away. We were both at a lost for words. He leaned in and whispered making sure his warm breath caressed my ear ,''Nice job. That should rub him the wrong way for years.''

Who's he?

''Sweet baby Jesus that was...wow.''

Oh! The kiss left me completely under Charlie's control I had forgotten my friends were still here. Axel smiled but this one was different from all the rest. His face smiled but his eyes didn't light up with joy.

Now I feel shitty after an amazing kiss. Thanks alot Ax.

Sigh

I want to block everything out and just be happy for more than a day. That's all I ask for.
