The pain. Physically, mentally, painful. She couldn't think in whole thoughts. She could only feel. Feel the cold metal of the van floor on her skin. Feeling the weight of each turn pull at her limp body. Her dress clinging to her legs, which were wet with sweat. A loud crash shook her from her thoughts. The van door noisily rolled open. As scared as she was, Annabeth tried her best to not show fear.

"Get up." Luke spat.

Annabeth sat up slowly, trying to gain balance.

"We're here." Was all he said. As Luke watched, two men walked in and grabbed her by the arms. Their grip, strong and unmoving.

They brought her to a dark room. No windows, and one door. There was nothing recognizable about this place. No landmark. Nothing to give her an idea of where she was.

She felt cold and afraid.

"Now we wait for your friend to make his choice, You, or Percy."

Her stomach lurched. "Why, Luke? Why go through all this trouble? Why the manipulation and trials? Why not just kill who you need to kill and be done with it?"

"Because, I was told so. I'm taking orders Annabeth. This isn't my operation, I'm merely a pawn in a much larger plan."
