The sharp wind bit at his jacket. He was feeling weak, and helpless. Which considering the situation, wasn't a good thing.

How was he supposed to tell Annabeth that he let Percy die? How could he ever look her in the eyes again. Annabeth would know the pain He felt when Bianca died. She would know that he died, because of me. Nobody should have to feel that.

As the hours crept by he began to lose track of where he was. Though the road signs and tourist, did help him direct his way.

More hours passed until he finally stepped over the Maine, state line. When it occurred to him. He had no idea where Annabeth was.

He made his way slowly into the state where Annabeth was held captive.

After walking for a while, he stopped. Noticing a familiar wrinkled woman.

He approached her. "How do I get to Annabeth? Where is she?"

"Slow down kid. Look I'm not supposed to tell you where she is out right. Just follow the signs."

"What signs?" He shouted. "The ones clearly marked: 'This way to you friend who's being held captive!'"

"That's all I can say. Now beat it. There are people that need vengeance to tend to." She disappeared just as quickly as she'd appeared.

Nico cursed under his breath.  He began walking down the road feeling stupid and useless when something caught his eye.

A street sign.

A normal sign. Mundane town name. Miles to Arrival. Food. Lodging. But what caught his eye was the symbol in the bottom left corner: it was an owl. The symbol of Athena. He would've laughed, seeing as the whole "owl to show where Annabeth is" thing is quite cheesy. However the situation, was not.
He trudged along keeping an eye out for owls on signs until they led him out to this rusty warehouse.
