The first thing I remembered was sparks. I had always thought that that sounded so cliche, but now that I'm experiencing them, nothing else could explain it better. My heart was racing as I felt his lips on mine. Slow, soft, and sweet. I never wanted this moment to end for fear that it was just a dream.
But it had to, at least for right now.
We pulled away from each other simultaneously, and I slowly opened my eyes to see those hazel beauties looking right back at me. My thoughts began to race along with my speeding heart. What if he regrets it? What if it was a mistake?
"Hey, beautiful. You really have to stop over thinking everything," Matt started, noticing the smile on my face fall once the thoughts kicked in, "Come here."
I obeyed his command, curious as to what he was doing to me. He gently took my face in his hands again and brought my lips to his, causing those sparks to erupt again.
"You are so amazing Belle, how in the hell did I get so fucking lucky to be able to be in the presence of this princess?" His sweet words calmed my doubts of our kiss. My confidence that seems to run away before had returned, and my new spitfire attitude that I had learned from working EMS was starting to want to come out of the shell I shoved it in when I ran into Matt's arms three days ago.
"Well first of all, I'm a queen," I began, as my eyes stayed trained on his face to watch for the expected shock, "and secondly, now that i'm thinking about it, you kind of owe me for being so mean to me when we were kids."
And there it was. The shock I was looking for, although it didn't last long. Matt was always better at things like this. And he shocked me right back.
In one swift motion he had gotten me flat on my back with both of my hands in his, pinned up next to my head. He was on top of me with both of his knees next to my hips. My face said all that he wanted it to.
"Alright your highness, what could I ever do to make it up to you? Because from what I just witnessed, I could make you forget everything with this," and once again I felt his soft lips on mine. He was right, I forgot everything that was going through my head.
"So what were you saying?"
"I-I, um..." I stumbled on my words while we stared into each others eyes. There was that look he had in the kitchen.
It was love.
I mean sure, we cared for each other and loved each other since we were little. Even though we fought and pranked each other most of the time, we both always knew we would do anything for one another. But this was a different kind of love, and I finally realized where I recognized it from. It was the same look I had been giving him since that backwoods picnic when I was ten, and he finally started returning my love.
"Just shut up and kiss me again Matty."
And he did. Again and again.
