Chapter 10: I Really Am Dead

Evans *POV*

"You came from where?" Kane looked at me as if I grown two heads.

"Italy. I was with P-Rod," Kane sat down at the near by bench, looking faint.

"I feel like I'm dreaming. I was at your funeral. You're dead!" A few tears escaped his eyes, running down his cheeks.

"You're not dreaming Kane. This is all real."

"No, I'll even take you to your gravestone. Once I take you there, y-you will disappear," he choked, making my vision blury.

This was really affecting him. I feel so bad. I need to find a way to make him believe that this is all real.

"Then take me. I'll be there every step of the way," I held his face in my hands, looking him in the eyes.

"Okay," he sighed deeply, before getting up and walking in the direction of the cemetery.

When we arrived, it was beginning to get dark.

We walked through the many rows of tombstones, staying close to each other.

Kane pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight. He stopped in front of a newly looking grave and shined the light towards it.

"Here lies Kimberly Marie Evans, daughter, friend, and an overall extraordinary person..." I slumped to my knees, closing my eyes.

"So it's true, I am dead. Nobody knows that I'm alive. Kane you have to believe me. Was the casket open at the funeral?" I looked at Kane who was kneeling beside me.

"No it wasn't. Your parents were persuaded by P-Rod that it would be respectful that it was closed."

"We need to dig the coffin back up and get rid of this stupid headstone."

"I don't know how much you remember, but doing that, even if it is fake, is a serious crime."

I look around the cemetery and spot a building near the entrance with its lights on.

"Maybe we can ask whoever is in that building. If we convince them that this grave if fake we can."

"You're crazy," I was already up and walking towards the building when he finally commented.

I hesitantly knocked on the door, letting out a shaky breath.

"Yes, what is it?" A shaggy looking man poked his head out the door.

"We were wondering if we could dig up a grave that is fake."

"Yeah right, get out of here before I call the cops."

"No please, you have to believe me. I'm the person that is supposed to be buried there."

"If that is true, you'll have to wait until tomorrow. The cops need to be here and I need proof that that is you."

"Okay, thank you sir."

Kane and I walk out of the cemetery, stopping on the sidewalk.

"Evans, where are you staying?" Kane turned towards me, slightly smiling.

"I haven't figured that out yet."

"Would you like to stay at my house? I would take you to your parents, but I can't drive yet and I don't think you want to face them yet."

"Yeah that would be smart. Thank you."

"No problem."
------------------------------------

"Oh my God! Evans? Is that really you?!" The strange lady embraced me in a tight hug, then let go suddenly.

"Wait I thought you died. I went to your funeral and everything," the lady, who I'm guessing is Ryan and Kane's mother, said with a hushed voice.

"That's what everyone is saying. Believe it's news to me," I offered a small smile, stealing glances at the house.

"What happened?"

"Mom, don't overwhelme her. She's had enough for one day. I took her to where her grave is, so she knew the truth," Kane said, stepping in between his mom and I.

"You're right. But I do want to know what is going on. It has caused Ryan and many others so much heart ache."

"I do have one question," I said gaining both their attention.

"What's that dear?"

"Why did I cause Ryan so much problems? I saw on his social media that I was with him a lot, but I can't figure out how we even came to know each other. He seems like a higher social statues then me."

"Really don't know, do you?" I shook my head, letting her continue, "You two were dating and it was a love that couldn't be separated."

I stood there in shock, not able to say anything.

"But there's no need to talk about that now, I bet you're tired. Let's get you to the spare bedroom and settled in.
-----------------------------

Once I was alone in the bedroom that was given to me, I cried.

I've been holding it in all day. I hurt so many people and I didn't even know it.

I bet my parents are still grieving and are having a hard time with life.

When I was done crying, I was drained. It has been a long day and I haven't had good sleep the past few weeks.

I slowly got into bed and fell asleep.
