Chapter 3: The Journey

While they said goodbye to Terabithia Jess grabbed the Terabithian compass and the layer was know where. But Jess just said lets go. They were at south. But it was also UNDERGROUND. The depth of the layer 100,000 km deep. Jess said," Come on lets go before it gets dark." They walked into the forest. The a gust of fog came upon them. Jess ran to nothing. But when the fog lifted he was lost. He yelled out Janice and May Belle but they never respond. Then Squogers surrounded him. He didn't know what to do. They were not in Terabithia.

He was about to get mugged but the Janice and May Belle ran passed him and Janice yelled," More Squogers! Jess! Run!" Then There where an army of Squogers. Jess threw a rock at them but it was useless. He was making them mad. Jess thought that maybe he can out run them. He ran as fast as he could. Then he remembered that he used to be the fastest fifth grade and now he is the fastest kid in eight grade. The Jess had an idea. " Janice! May Belle! Grab the rope in my bag!" Yelled Jess. Then they held the rope tight on each side while Jess slowly walked back and then ran towards the Squogers and clothes lined them in the face. They ran away.

Jess, Janice, and May Belle sighed with relief. " Great job farm boy!" Said Janice while she patted Jess on the back. Then they camped. " Jess, will we ever find Leslie?" Asked May Belle. " I hope so May Belle." Told Jess. As May Belle and Janice set for camp Jess sits at a fallen log and looks at the photo of Leslie. He starts crying. He gets down on his knees and whispers while his hands covering his eyes," I'm sorry Leslie. It's my fault. I should have come with you." Janice walk towards Jess. " Jess? Jess?" " What?" Cried Jess. " Jess, crying and blaming yourself is not going to bring Leslie back. You have to man up Jess. Leslie needs you, May belle needs you, and I need you." Stated Janice " Ok I will." Said Jess

" Thats the spirit farmer boy."

Back at the Aaron's house. Jack Aarons notice that Jess and May belle are missing

He called the police to search the entire town. Then they traced their foot steps and found them. They were sent off to Juvenile Detention.
